Are some of the former Callahan commits going to live up to the hype?  Is Bo going to whip them into shape?  The depth looks a little rough in some areas, mostly defense.  Losing all of our D-Line one year and then all of our LB's the next makes me a little nervous.  Thoughts?

Defensive depth is a huge problem, but Bo will get whomever suits up to play a hell of a lot better than Coz.

WR is a concern.  RB becomes a huge concern if (when) Lucky declares for NFL.  QB could be an interesting race.....I don't buy that Ganz will have much, if any, advantage on Lee or Witt.  This offense will be simplified enough that Ganz system knowledge from last year will be minimized.

The best players need to play.  Period.

Positions I feel very good about as of the moment:
Quarterback - Ganz is pretty solid, Witt has a ton of potential, Lee is an adequate player.
Running Back - If Lucky stays and runs the way he did late in the year last year, look the F out our running game could be really special.
Offensive Line - Cotton will take this talent and return it to at least the late years of Tenopir.  There is a ton of talent here.

I feel moderate about:
Safeties - If Asante moves to LB this worries me but there is talent and speed here.  Busch appeared to be a sucky safety coach, we'll see what the new coach brings to the table.
Wide Receivers - Some talent is there, not great but more than adequate.  Guys like Paul and Holt need to emerge and Peterson and Swift need to become more consistent.
Defensive Line - Talent is there, we'll see if they can get physical this year, they could also benefit from a more physical offense in practice.

Positions that worry me:
Tight End - I don't think this needs explanation.
Linebackers - Potential is there, will performance match, this could change for the better if Asante makes the move to LB.
Cornerbacks - Top talent is good but I worry if we sustain injuries.

We're in great shape offensively.  The receiving corps is untested, but there's a ton of talent there.  We're in very good shape at RB, even better if ML5 returns rather than opting for the NFL.  Ganz has two talented backups at QB.  The line is solid and should only get better.  And, we've addressed our TE situation via recruiting.

Defensively, we don't lack depth so much as we lack experienced depth.  There's a lot of unproven talent there.  Logic suggests that Bo will have that talent playing at a very high level.  We can improve our depth quickly if the recruiting class comes around like we hope.  Losing Kuli sucks.  Keeping Will Compton would be huge, IMO.  He adds instant depth at LB.  If we stay healthy, we'll be in very good shape.

Special teams could be very special next year.  I could see Mendoza and LaMichael James (if he signs) returning punts and kicks.  Both have everything you want in a return man.  And of course, we've got Adi and Henry!  Cheesy

The only guy who is pretty much guaranteed his spot is Ganz.  The whole team loves him and he proved to be a really good leader.  Bo will recognize it and not mess with a good thing.

I have more worries about the d-line than anything.  We don't have a Bingham on the team anymore to wreak havoc with the offenses interior line like we did in 2003.  Safety is another concern because we're going to raid the depth for guys who can play linebacker.  We should be able to field a pretty good starting group but depth is potentially a big problem.

No real problems on O.  D has problems at LB.  Otherwise we should be much better.

I think Suh will be a Bingham on 'roids (not literally!) with good coaching.  Our line play will be light years better than last year.  How couldn't it be?

I have a feeling Lee just may be "adequate enough" to be the starter.  Possible?

LSU wins!

Suh would be even more dangerous with Kuli lining up beside him. Hopefully there's still time to make that happen. Any truth to the rumor that the reason he decommitted was because he couldn't get the coaching staff to call him back?

Suh would be dangerous if Cos would have chosen a scheme whereby he wasn't the object of a friggin double team on every play.  Im sure Bo has that figured out already.

Suh needs to learn to not take plays off.  He is a football player and he has a mean streak to him but he'll occasionally take a play off, I don't like that hopefully Bo P will be able to rectify that.

As a nose tackle or 1 technique Suh is going to always have to deal with a lot of double teams, it's what comes with the position.  If Steinkuhler or somebody else could hold down the nose, I'd love to see Suh at the 3 technique as he'd be a disruptive force.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but Glenn Dorsey for LSU was their 1 technique I believe.

Potter to nose with 20-30 extra pounds and Suh to DT or DE situationally.

I don't think Potter is stout enough to hold down the nose even with an extra 20 pounds.  I'm also curios to see how Steinkuhler will do if he can be healthy this year.  I also would like to see Potter actually lose 15 to 20 pounds or so and to focus on his speed off the edge.

Why would you take your best defensive lineman (arguably) and move him to a position that is already three deep?
