I got us ... early ... at 8-4.  We lose to OU, TT both away and we lose to MU, KU at home.  I know, I know, blasphemy ... but it's the new reality.

We lose to MU and KU but beat VT? That seems a little odd to me. Loses to MU and KU will likely lead to a good amount of upset fans. They will not let up and will become near deafening if this senario then likely repeats itself in 09'. The new reality?

Why?  Both those teams are better than VT.

What are you projecting?

So KU will beat VT on Thursday? The teams are close, but VT has an edge in both D and special teams, KU in offense. But VT has an even bigger advantage in coaching. VT should beat KU.

I will be surprised, honestly, if Kansas gets blown out like some people think they will. I think we're looking at a competitive game. Both teams want to be there. Both teams are hungry. Both teams are GOOD. Virginia Tech is favored, and deserves to be favored as they beat more good teams over the year, but this could go either way.

Not bad, but I would add 2 more wins, KU and CU.   KU will IMO take a small step backwords.  They are not going to sneak up on anyone next year.

CU is improving, but not that much.  Iowa St. will improve probably more than any team in the Big 12 next year outside of Nebraska.

NU should be solid offensively and much improved on defense.  I just hope that people don't expect a miracle.  NU will not most likely have a top 15 defense.  I will be very happy with a top 50 defense.

Keep the offense scoring 30 a game and cut our defensive stats to a top 50 and we will have a pretty salty team.

As far as next year, why is KU ahead of NU? Offense? That shouldn't be the case. And if Bo can come up with a decent defense with the game in Lincoln, we should have a very good chance to win. Same with MU; hell we even have a decent shot at VT if these guys can really coach!

I see losses at OU and probably TT, but we may have a shot at TT.  At least 1 if not two wins over the VT, MU, KU trio. So I guess between 8-4 and 10-2 comes to mind with 9-3 the most likely scenario.

Anything is possible as we saw yesterday, but I believe Kansas will beat VT.  Missouri whipped Arkansas real good and I still believe Kansas is better than Missouri (and so does the BCS).

But it's not fair to question my picking NU over VT next year and then to say what I have bolded above.  Sounds like we are on the same page.

clone, if your prediction is accurate, that'll be fine, so long as the team plays with more passion and enthusiasm, and demonstrates that it is well-coached.  We'd make it to a bowl.  That would make for significant improvement over the past season.

Fortunately, passion and enthusiasm seems to be Coach Pelini's strong-suit, and there's every reason to believe that this staff will provide fine coaching...

I can virtually promise you it's not accurate.

It's waaay too early, just a "for fun" gut level type prediction..  I hope the mighty skers will do MUCH better.

The returning players haven't exactly lit up the college football world and until we see something on the field, the product under a new coach and staff is pretty much an unknown entity.

just saying.

I'm personally thinking that a good record is needed. 9-3 comes to mind, maybe 10-2 if he's truely as good as some think on here with the defense.

What do you think?

those would be nice seasons. but Bo in no way shape or form needs to have that kind of success his first year. and for those of you who thinks he does, then you're already a lost cause.

Say what you may my friend, but losing breeds apathy. A poor record this year and if this year then likely next year will lead to just that on the part of NU fans! Sad

Who said anything about losing? I just think that if we don't go from a 5-7 team to a 10 win season that people need to realize that it isn't the end of the world. I think a bowl game and the defense playing with a lot more intensity would be plenty for Bo's first season. I honestly believe we'll be in the running for big 12 north champs, but if not, I'm not going to become "apathetic". Losing does breed apathy but not after a coaches first season.   Usually anyway.
