Dave Kennedy, who just left Nebraska's program a few weeks ago, has been hired to head the Texas A&M football strength program.

"Dave comes to A&M with a wealth of experience," A&M coach Mike Sherman said. "It has always amazed me while in the NFL, how many players who were coached by Dave in college wanted to go train with him no matter where he was. He is a very well-respected coach.

"Over his tenure at Ohio State, I know he turned down numerous NFL jobs. New England head coach Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli (vice president for player personnel for the Patriots) think Dave is the best at what he does, as do I."

Kennedy was the strength coach at Nebraska under Head Football Coach Bill Callahan from 2004-07. He held a similar position for many years at Ohio State.

An Omaha native, he got his start in the NU strength and conditioning program in 1982 as a student assistant under Boyd Epley.

Good news.

DK will destroy the S&C program at A&M....one more soft opponent to worry less about.

This guy sucked only slightly less than Cosgrove.  Maybe it was Callahan's influence, but S&C has been terrible the last 4 years.

This is awesome. It should only be a matter of time and TAMU will be competing with Baylor for Big 12 south doormat.

And that pisses me off.  Who would have ever thought that the S&C program at Nebraska would be like it is/was.

Is this breaking news?

Thought DK's relationship with Sherman was well known and this was not unexpected.

It wasn't S&C.  It was the employment of the results.

You ask kids to do goofy things and they are going to struggle, regardless of how fast and strong they are.

In many instances DK was simply producing what was asked of him by Callahan.  Now there were some issues in the S&C dept., some rumours and such.  DK is respected in that industry and is a decent guy.  But I suppose it was inevitable that the blind hatred would be spilt here...

Callahan made an average DC look horrible.

He made a good S&C guy look average.

This stuff ain't complicated folks.
