Personally, i like "Sea of Red" and "Husker Power".  All the <> Nation stuff is just an attempt to cash in on the marketing success of the phrase "Red Sox Nation" which was coined after thier world series win in 04.  It is a lame spin off, and doesnt even make sense except in cases like "Seminole Nation".  Personally, it is so generic, I think we need something different.

Except they stole it from the Raider Nation first!!   Tongue

Prince clearly needs the JUCOs to make major contributions immediately to stave off disaster, but there is an undeniable adjustment period. You have to wonder how quickly these guys will adjust to KSU’s easier academics.

If you want to get technical, the Chiefs were the first team to be called a nation, and they took the nickname of H Roe Bartle who was the head honcho of a BSA organization called the "Tribe of Mic-O-Say" or, alternately, Mic-O-Say Nation.  So, technically, they all stole it from the boy scouts, who got it from the Lakota indians.

I don't mind those sayings...pretty indifferent...but the one that I do kind of like is "Children of the Corn"

Got a uniqueness to it I guess...

And you just know the Lakota's stole the phrase from some other tribe... Tongue

Seriously though, Husker Nation, Husker Power, Sea of Red, The Power of Red, etc, are all perfectly fine.

These phrases and/or slogans are mere trifles, what I'm truly concerned with is how the Huskers play on the field and conduct themselves off the field.

Personally I like Husker Nation. Power of Red doesn't bother me either.  Probably because Red is my favorite color.  Grin

couldn't agree more. everyone's a "nation" now. the originators i can think of are OU and FSU. after that, forget it. kind of the same with using sirius as entrance music. although we've been using that so long that we're the only ones left using it, so let's keep it!

I have never liked the phrase Husker Nation, don't much care for " The Power of Red" either. Another one I hate is, Skers, are people so lazy these days that they cannot be troubled to say Cornhuskers or Huskers? At the rate the name of the team is being shortened in a few years we will be known as the Ers.

my fellow fans, the saying we really need to move to the forefront is "HUSKER POWER". that's what this program is about. the biggest disappointment for me last week seemed to be the scheduling errors that didn't leave enough time before kickoff for a proper HUSKER POWER chant. there is something very intimidating and ominous about eighty thousand people shouting at each other to fire each other up and fire up the team. if there's any catchphrase or slogan that i would like to see emphasized, it's HUSKER POWER.

I loved it when it happened spontaneously before USC last year.  That was the most epic thing I have ever seen.

Grateful Red

My cousin made shirts at his shop in Lincoln, they also did a lot of players personal shirts for game day.

We came up with this in the mid 90's after my brother was done playing and since the university couldn't touch us for royalties they got the Grateful Dead to sick their attorney's on us, sent us a nice threat letter and all.   Long story short within 2 years we saw others (Wisconsin) copying it.

One of the players personal's I really liked was " Real QB's don't slide "  - in small letters across the front center with a red N below it, and a 7 on the back.  I think I have one never worn or washed somewhere in my collection.    Cool
