It was nice to see the article today in the OWH about Kolby Smith. I also went to Pender High School and played sports with him for two years, and knew him pretty well. His story is a true story of hard work and dedication to achieve a goal. To me it is great to see him on the field for such a talented team when he wasn't really recruited by Division I schools out of high school. It also goes to show that a kid from small town class C-2 has a chance to play anywhere if he works at it. He is a great guy and a very good football player. It's very unfortunate he has Jermaine Gresham on his team or we would all be able to see his abilites on a regular basis. I wish his dream was to play at Nebraska because I feel he would have had the talent to compete for playing time here at NU. His story mirrors the many walk-on success stories here at Nebraska. For anyone going to Norman or watching the game on ESPN...I ask that you please root on #89 from OU. He deserves it...because he is one of us...a true NEBRASKAN!!!

i never cheered for larry station at iowa, or other nebraskans that played elsewhere ... sure, nice for him, but he's a sooner, make no mistake ... i hope he has a miserable miserable miserable nite saturday ... and i hope his buddies back home are 'kind' enough to rub his nose in it if we can pull the upset ...

the exception to this rule:  novacheck ... when he went to the cowboys (my favorite pro team) i was a BIG novacheck fan ... (ok, if my spelling is off, then you need to take some 'anti-anal' meds)

He's with the enemy.  But since you asked so nicely, I'll cheer for him not to get injured.   Smiley

Maybe we could get him to play like Z. Taylor did against OU! Then he would be a TRUE Nebraskan! Wink

Jay Novacek was born in South Dakota.  So he is actually  a "naturalized"  Nebraskan, unless his parents are Nebraskans then he would be a Nebraskan. Being born in South Dakota and leaving to play for Wyoming I would question his allegiance . Although he does own property in Nebraska and therefore must pay taxes so he probably gets a pass.   Grin
