Guys, we're going to the Gator Bowl. If you heard the interview today with the Gator Bowl Chairman they asked him hypothetically if Nebraska fans had already bought tickets would they have to get a refund and he said "I think they made a good investment."

He came right out and told husker fans to order their bowl tickets for the Gator Bowl from Huskers.com as they get the best tickets and spent half the interview talking about the things fans can do in Jacksonville, or two hours away in Orlando.

I recommend anyone going to the game include Cape Canaveral.  It's a great historic site and you can actually visit a space launch site.  The museum there is great as is the show.

While I do think we are going to the Gator, I wouldn't trust a saleman that's encouraging people to buy his tickets to be telling the truth.  He just wants to sell tickets, he doesn't care who they are sold to.

Just so folks know, Cape Canaveral is about a 2 hr drive south from Jacksonville.  However I agree w/SCV it's a must see.  Also if you can't include the Cape, another place closer to Jacksonville that is really neat to see is St. Augustine, Fla.  The oldest city in the U.S.  Great history w/an old historic castle.  Smiley

I lived in Jacksonville for three years...I completely agree....St Augustine is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Jax, and is one of my favorite places on Earth.  It's where I want to retire.

For possible day trips:

Don't forget that the World Golf Hall of Fame for those golfers out there is off the Interstate at St Augustine plus for the Nascar crowd Daytona USA is also just off the interstate on the way to or from the Space Coast region.   Been to all 3 and are worth the stop!

Love my AAA!    Smiley

I heard on the local news that there aren't many flights that arrive in Jacksonville.

Their airport must be similar to Lincoln's, right?

Amen, bro.  It's a great place to visit.  Got to see 3 shuttle launches from the Cape in the 90s.

Well I went there alot in the late 80's and 90's and they had a lot of flights into and out of Jacksonville.  Maybe that has changed recently.  Yes they are a smaller airport, but bigger than Omaha and Lincoln combined.  Not as big as say Orlando or Miami.  They are a decent size airport.   Not as big as say Miami or Orlando.
