I wonder if Bo knows that you can use challenges to get an instant replay....just might have changed that Holt TD play.  Undecided

What is the rule on that? He had control of the ball with a foot down in the end zone. Seems to me that should be a touchdown. But the ennouncers said you have to control the ball all the way to the ground? Is that right? What's the rule in that situation?

Yep, looked like a clear TD to me unless someone can for sure say otherwise.

Not only did Nebraska 'finish it' but we 'messed with Texas' doing it.
The rest of the former conference can take their 11-1 votes and put them between their lips and the backside of Texas, space providing of course.

I believe it was the right call, unfortunately, according to a new rule interpretation added in 2008:

Receiver A85 stretches out at the Team B two-yard line and possesses the ball but is going to the ground on his own as he is attempting to complete the catch. As A85 falls to the ground in the end zone, the ball immediately comes loose and falls to the ground.
Ruling: Incomplete pass. Any receiver going to the ground on his own in the process of making a catch must maintain control of the ball when he hits the ground.

Right, but he has to MAINTAIN control when he hits the ground on a TD.

How do you not challenge on that?  Way too close _not_ to challenge.  Way too meaningful.

Yes, I can freakin' read.  Can you?  Holt should have held on to the ball and it would have been a TD.  You have to hold on to the ball when you land for a TD (the rule only applies to a TD).  Sorry, that's the rule.  I'm not happy about it either.

It doesn't matter.  You have to maintain possession when you land.
