Of course, us die-hards know that #14 on the defensive side of the ball is really Anthony Blue, the Sophomore cornerback listed at 5-10, 185 pounds.

Watching the Bo Pelini show...when they were showing a punt coverage...Bo said "nice job by Gomes at the initial attack, then finishing is Austin Cassidey and..........(silence).....Larry Blue...."

I thought it was kind of funny...and probably not the best sign if the coach is struggling to remember your first name.  I know Bo really knows his name..it was just an honest mistake...but I still thought it'd be funny if a coach started just mixing first names with last names...Bobby Bowden used to do that during his show...so much so that he got advice to just start calling his players by thier last name...to make it easier for him to remember....

Anyway, I hope he continues to overcome his injury and become a solid contributor at CB next year...

Blue is going to have to fight for playing time next year. We're becoming stacked at CB.

Wasn't he pretty talented on the offensive side of the ball in HS? And wasn't he at one time in the mix as a return man at NU?

(I'm having as much trouble as Bo remembering much about Blue!)

All I can find from his HS days was that he was almost strictly a defensive player (and that he had to play against Dez Brisco in practice). But I do remember him starting towards the latter end of 2007 and it looked like he had a promising future (granted, I could've played on the 2007 defense and looked impressive). However, from everything I've heard, his knee injury completely crushed his confidence, both mentally and physically.

I think his age may be a factor in his lack of playing time...and his propensity for injuries...he is 88 years old after all.

This is particularly funny to me, but you may not find it interesting at all.  I'll share it anyway...  I've called Anthony Blue 'Larry Blue' in conversations with friends myself.  This is what happens to the brain as we hit our 40s.  I remember Larry Blue very well, and some of you CFB nuts may as well.  If you recall, he was a DE at Iowa in the early 1990s and was their MVP that year.  I remmebr him specifically because my buddy who played next to me on the D line was stuck behind Larry Blue for most of his college football career.  The guy was a hell of a player.  Now, nearly every time I see 'Blue' on the back of Anthony's jersey, I think 'Larry Blue'.  I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that's the same Larry Blue that popped into ol' Bo's head during the Football Show.

that would be funny Ted---wasn't bo on that Iowa staff back then???  I wonder if Greg Sharpe was like....(ummm...it's Anthony)

Yeah, I think Anthony is just a sophomore.  But, it does seem like he's been around for a long time.

I think Bo might have been playing safety at Ohio State at that point.

I would be worried about Bo if he had called him Vida Blue.

Per Google... Pelini began his coaching career at the University of Iowa as a graduate assistant for the Iowa Hawkeyes under Hayden Fry in 1991.

Larry Blue would have been a frosh or soph that year.

Or worse yet ... Ben Blue.

Nice!

I too wish the real Blue would fully recover and earn back some playing time.

Not only did Nebraska 'finish it' but we 'messed with Texas' doing it.
The rest of the former conference can take their 11-1 votes and put them between their lips and the backside of Texas, space providing of course.

I have like 3 memories of Blue being on the field.  Burned once for a wide open TD last year, can't remember who it was against.  Burned on a route where Prince or Asante ran Blue's guy down from behind to save a TD, can't remember who it was against.  Then against ISU (I think) on the fake punt, with him running away for about 4 seconds before turning around to realize the punter never punted the ball.  If he had watched, which I'm assuming is part of his job, that was an easy stop.

I love the Huskers, I know they're kids, and I try not to be critical of them (outside of #68, who's name I won't even say), but Blue...well, he's not my boy Blue.  He's the new Erwin Sweeney in my mind...

If you're reading this, Anthony, please realize I didn't like Ralph Brown for 2 years, either, so all you have to do is be an all-American now, and you'll be mrcold approved.

Irwin Sweeney had a nice frosh season.  If Anthony Blue turns out to be like Keyou Craver...I'd be more than happy!

Even Dejuan Groce for that matter.

I remember the beginning of Groce's career.....wow....he got burned like WWE's Sheamus in the sun....

But he actually turned out to be pretty effective.

Hopefully, blue can get his confidence back!
