Yeah they can make it out to be that this Texas team is down and all of a sudden not worthy, but that didn't keep Kansas, Missouri, K-State, Iowa St. from tearing down their goal post when they beat a down Nebraska team did it? All you heard was "it is still Nebraska that we beat". Now it is our turn. If they want to play the "Texas is down" card, well then we'll kick them when their down and revel in it much like they did us. Either way, payback's a bitch.

Anyone who knows anything about football knows this will be a very tough game for NU.  The Huskers are the best team right now, but it doesn't matter.  Who will play the best on Saturday?  That's all that matters.  The horns have all the talent in the world and could make it very challenging for the NU offense.  They are the best defense we have faced this season by a long shot.  To our credit, our offense gets to line up against the Blackshirts in practice.  That's the best defense the NU offense faces all year, and they get a shot at it every week.  Hopefully, that experience will pay off on Saturday.  And as others have said, you have to protect the ball and play as mistake free as possible.  I hate the fact that Will Muschamp has two weeks to prepare for T-Magic and the gang.  Believe me, they will be more than ready to slow down this high powered offense.  Take what they give us, and don't put the flipping ball on the turf!

If we execute and play the way we are capable of playing, I would guess the final score to be somewhere around NU 27  TX 16, and that's with the Blackshirts creating a scoring opportunity or two.  I think our defense is really the key to this game.  The best defensive backfield in the country needs to dominate this game.  I'm hoping we shut down their running game and force the horns to sling the pig.  If that happens, we won't have to have a great offensive day because the Blackshirts should create scoring opportunities and keep TX on their side of the field.  As I said, a lot of focus is on on offense right now, but it's the defense that wins this game for NU.

well said Red.
Personally I think it is going to come down to whether or not Nebraska wins the turnover battle.  TM needs to hang onto the ball again this week, and not to throw picks...........if we see that then I think the Huskers will be fine

I am not expecting a blow out by any means but will certainly enjoy if it happens.

All I know is UCLA beat them easily and California beat the living snot out of UCLA and another team known as Kansas State also beat UCLA.

Point is, we are the better team right now. We were also the better team last December and considering our offense at the time was just short of ugly, we should beat Texas Saturday.

We will only loose this game if: 1) We are so over-hyped it actually hurts us and/or 2) We just shoot ourselves in the foot all day long.

If we are sound on both sides of the ball and don't make mistakes on special teams, we should be OK.

IMO what I see in texas this year is a bunch of good 4 and 5 star athletes who don't have good chemistry.  Good players but not a good team.  I think they have gotten complacent  in their over all talent evaluation.  They have maybe just looked at which players are ranked the highest in texas by recruiting services and offered them a schollie.    Didn't do  the whole background accountability check  to find  the right type of player  just  went with the highest ranked.  Our players minds will be right for this game no question.  Good players on both sides but we are the better TEAM period.

well said Red.

Do you mean, "Well said, Red Said Ted?"  That'll hurt your head till you go to bed.  It's like Dr. Seuss.  (I don't mean to tread on the dead.)

BTW, the think that makes me nervous about this game is the fact that Texas had a bye week with which to prepare.  No doubt this one will be a hard fought affair.

I heards something today that I never really thought about.

Taylor is play QB because he did this to our #1 defense and did it regularly.  We may just be a lot better than I thought.

We will know about 5pm Saturday.

What if we didn't have Taylor Martinez?  What if Zac Lee was our starting QB?  What would be the odds be on the game?  Remember, we could still be 5-0 without Taylor.

Would we be thinking this would be a close game that could go either way?  I would.  But when I add Taylor to the mix I don't see a close game that could go either way.  I see a victory and I see it clearly.  It's football so of course anything can happen.  Ask Alabama.  But short of one team decomposing or another one high on steroids I see Nebraska winning by more than a touchdown and probably more than two.

But then, what do I know?  (See posts prior to KSU game.) Wink

I can honestly see the shoe going onto the other foot with Tejas taking a lead into the 4th by bottling up Martinez only to blink an eye while sucking wind and see him scoot by for a game winning TD.

Think Miami in the 95 Orange Bowl. Think about all those games versus the Sooners and Switzer. Playmakers like Martinez and Helu, and yes Paul may be shut down for 3 quarters, but if the Husker defense does their part, our O-Line can keep pounding away till they start popping off long runs.

I'm real worried this will be the best defense we've faced all year.  I hope we don't turnover the ball.

We have been very fortunate to not loose ball when we drop it on the ground, ball security will be a premium this game

Agree with the general tone of this plus other comments.  Nebraska is a better team right now and should win unless they screw up.  To put a picture to it see the season comparison chart.  Texas is performing very un-Texas like, while NU is taking care of business (the exception being SD State of course).  Texas is still Texas and it's hard to shake the snakebit feeling, but on (graph) paper if NU plays like they did against Washington and KSU we shoud be hard to beat.  Stupid penalities and turnovers being the kryptonite.

I don't foresee Texas playing as bad as they did against UCLA (their worst performance in a decade) nor NU playing like they did against SDST.  I expect the game to be close.  I don't see Texas with their talent and stable coaching staff to lay another egg.  They will turn it around this season but hopefully not against NU.

If we can minimize turnovers, and that's not a given, we should beat UT worse than we beat SDSU. They still have good players and a good defensive coordinator but they still have the same team that got rolled by UCLA. NU by two scores.
