With the success of the UNO Mavericks, what are the chances of UNL starting a hockey program?

Somwhere between slim and none.  Title XII pretty much rules it out, unless NU is prepared to start about 3 or 4 non-revenue womens sports teams.

Doesn't the Big Ten have women's lacrosse or hockey?

Could provide balance for Title IX purposes.

We'd have to expand the stadium to accommodate 100,00 people in order to afford mens' hockey and the other sports that would have to come with it.  Not worth it IMO.

Ehh...the team could always play at the Ice Box (Lincoln Stars home).

I've been saying this for a while now though from the sounds of things, it isn't going to happen.  I thought that there might be a possibility of this happening with the new arena in Lincoln but from what I understand, it will not be able to accommodate an ice-rink.  It is too bad because I can see Nebraska fans easily getting behind a hockey team.
