Do we promote from within, do we get a former player, got the Connie Yori route, or other?  I personally like Will Bolt; he is a Van Horn guy who displayed a lot of grit when he was wearing Husker red.  We need that kind of fighter's mentality back.  He's put some of his players in some power programs like LSU recently...his Texas JUCO connections could be an asset.

Ed Servais at Creighton is a helluva coach and wouldn't be a bad choice.  Very good baseball guy.  Erstad is an alum with serious name recognition and no head coaching experience....Fred Hoiberg, anyone?  Heck, a domesticated chimp would give us a fighting chance compared to what we've been subjected to.

I voted other just because in a perfect world, we'd land the coach of the #1 team in the nation, Omaha-boy Brian O'Connor.  But I think we'll end up "settling" for Will Bolt, and he'll stick around for as long as he likes.

That would be the ultimate home run but from what I've heard it'll never happen....but yes, in a perfect world that would be beyond outstanding.  He's my mother-in-law's cousin....I wonder if enough family pressure could coerce him to come back to Nebraska! (kidding, of course)

Call it a rumor, I guess, but it has some legs.

If he isn't....TO will be getting a flood of hate mail from some very ticked off Husker fans.  Just by some of the comments he's made re:the baseball team it sounds like he already has.  If he doesn't fire MA his credibility as an AD is going to slip some.  Probably not a whole lot but some.  I know he's mentioned how Devaney was given a chance back in the 60s when he had 2 straight 6-4 seasons, however he didn't inherit a national championship level football team like MA did and then proceed to run it into the ground the way MA has done.  If MA had any coaching ability he should've been able to maintain what Van Horn left him.

Pretty sure 99% of Devaney's players also would have run through a brick wall for him, whereas at least some of Anderson's players would use their coach as a battering ram Huh Tongue
