From a d dollars and cents perspective, who really gives a damn about NU baseball?  It is a sport that has absolutely no hope of breaking even.  Even when NU made the CWS it was a tremendous letdown in Omaha - NU fans brought $0 additional revenue to the CWS compared to any other team that would have traveled.  Absolutely no one in the Big 10 cares about baseball, so yeah for us to be the big fish in a sh*tpond.  

If Tom wanted to make a statement, he would have fired Doc instead....NU hoops has the potential to be a big deal.  I guarandamn tee you that when the new arena opens up and the seats are still half full because the team sucks something will have to happen.

Truthfully I don't give a rats arse if NU or even Creighton make the CWS and Omaha gets zilch in money.  As long as NU is there is better than not being there.  Besides the 3 times NU was there fans spent a bunch of money at local businesses and the stadium was full to the rafters for every NU game.  So NU baseball may not be important to you but in it's heyday it was important to NU fans in general and they made it known by selling out the Blatt!

CWS should only be expected maybe 2-3 times a decade at most, I think.  Conference tournaments should be every year, regionals 8-9 times and super regionals maybe 5-6 times every 10 years.  Obviously this will be a little easier in the Big 10 but even so, Tom Shatel said it best: NU can replicate Wichita State's model for success in the Mo. Valley and be a nice, slightly-profitable-or-at-least-not-a-complete-financial-black-hole program.

So, is it all about the money to you?

It isn't to me.  I care about Nebraska baseball because I love the sport, I am a Nebraska native, I am an NU grad, and I want us to reach our potential in all sports.  It is absolutely awesome to see the University of Nebraska baseball team playing in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.  I want us to have a chance to get there every single year.

Agreed.
Plus, what the hell does a sport making money have to do with anyone caring about it or not? Sure, I probably wouldn't put a moving van in front of the bowling coaches house if the kids couldn't pick up spares regularly, but I can care.

That's why I emphasized the "MOVING ON" portion.  I'm not discussing Anderson anymore: no more sarcasm, no more venting is called for, no reason to belabor any points.  Time to watch the conference tournaments and see how TO's hiring process plays out.  Moving on.

There are some differences. This guy has dedicated 15 years of his life to Nebraska baseball. I like the idea of us just moving on and finding the guy that will bring us back to prominence.
