PG: Richardson
SG: Spencer
SF: McCray
PF: Ubel
C: Diaz

6th: Walker backing up SG and SF.  Gives us an athletic defender we can cause matchup problems with.
7th: Talley backing up PG and SG.
8th: Almeida backing up Diaz, gives us the ability to slide Diaz to the 4.
9th: Rivers backing up Ubel, possibly plays the 3 in certain scenerios.

That's kind of how I see it  shaking out after the first couple of games.  Right now, Hilliard is the primary backup at PG.  I can't see that being the case a few games into the season.  It's not that he's bad, it's just that there are too many interchangable parts on the perimeter.  Richardson should be the starting PG, no doubt in my mind.  Spencer can still get his at SG, he's got the attitude that we need at SG.  At this point, Gallegos isn't going to get any PT unless he's significantly improved.

Almeida....we don't know about.  Is he going to be able to play this season?  I'm serious....knee pain is not good and he's putting a lot of weight on it, even if he's lost a lot of weight.  That's a major factor, it kills our depth if he's not available.  At that point, you would have to hope for some supportive minutes (and fouls) from Niemann and would either be forced to play Toney out of position once again or prepare Rivers.  Doc mentioned something about Fox....now Fox is a fine player but come on.

Sorry but unless the lsu guy is an all american type, then we will be one of the worst teams in the conference like we are projected.

See what? So basically what your telling me is that you already know the season's outcome based off of a meaningless game that you didn't even watch.

Saw Andre on Saturday and he has way slimmed down to the point where I barely recognized him. Maybe it was seeing him in street clothes but he didn't look fat by any means. I hate the idea of Richardson at PG. I like the kid and all, but I just don't feel safe with the ball in his hands. I just have images of his pocket getting picked and having crippling indecision problems.

Dan, you might be right.  All I'm saying is don't get too high (or low) on a glorified scrimmage.  There are people on other boards saying all these great things about tonight's game, have to keep it in perspective.

Are we going to be worse?  Maybe.  I guess, worse how?  We have a harder non-con schedule this year....if we drop a couple of them does that make us worse than beating up on terrible teams like we have done in years past?

With this team, I'm not sure we will know till midway through the season.  This most likely will be Doc's most talented team.  There's experience, there's depth, there's athletes, and there's size.  Can't say he's had all of that in the past.  Then you have to factor in our injury issues and new players.  Assuming Spencer/Talley/Rivers/Hilliard makes the rotation (and 3 of them will for sure), it takes time inject these players into our core, to get them to gel, get them to buy into Doc's defensive scheme.

I really don't know what's in store for this team.  I'm not going to say that we are going to be good, not saying we are going to be bad.  Typically under Doc, we are somewhere in between.  If Doc can make this thing work, I think he could do some nice things with this team.  If the injury bug doesn't go away and these new players aren't clicking with our core, we might be just the typical Doc team.

Andre has worked hard to lose weight and get in better condition.  This is why this injury is such a shame.  Worse comes to worse he redshirts and we pray we can get 10 minutes a game out of Niemann.

I hear you, on one hand, Richardson is a 5th year senior with plenty of experience.  On the other hand, he seems to be inconsistent with his play.  During Jeter's junior year, I often thought that we clicked more when Richardson was at PG.  Of course, last year Jeter was so dominant....   Hope for our sake he brings it this year.

Doc said his team was tired after last night's game.

Tired after the first game already? Oh boy.

It's going to be a long season for them.  Sad

Our nonconference has a bunc of middle of road teams.  Ones that we should and could win but also lose.  Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Yeah.  I think the majority of NU hoops fans have wanted a harder non-con for quite sometime.  We finally got it.  Yeah, it's not that great compared to some programs, but it's pretty solid for Nebraska.  No huge games, but a lot of alright teams.  I'll take it as it sure as heck beats some of the schedules we played.  At any rate, it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Not expecting nothing great out of the team, but I will stay optimistic.
The ex-Fatman is redshirting, this helps, not a fan of him.
As long as the defense is there, so is hope.
