This game is going to be a circus. The game will be totally lost in all this (as it probably should be). Not sure how PSU can even prepare and don't see how they will be able to compete especially if JoePa is gone in an instant but even still considering by Saturday everyone will know he is done.

If Vegas hasn't yanked this game off the board yet, they will soon and I don't expect it to even be available for anyone to bet on. (not that I care about that, just saying, that is how bad this all is)

Should be fired without having the opportunity to resign.  If he promoted that GA that told him to a full time assistant coach in exchange for him being quiet for the last decade, he should be charged as an accessory.  Disgusting.

Do we know that to be the case (the promotion in exchange for quiet, that is)? I haven't even heard that as speculation yet but have no doubt it is coming since you mention it.

This thing does not end with Sandusky. As the criminal investigation rolls out and discovery is conducted there will be more to come. There will most likely be found that payments have been made. Apparently rumblings of this story have been out there for some time and local media has been stonewalled when investigated.

Unlike most of the college football world, I have never liked or admired Paterno.  He is sanctimonious and a phony.  The chickens are finally coming home to roost.
Why, you don't think it's honorable to hire your buddies as officials to screw over multiple teams on your home field?!?!  Shocked

That is one of the reasons why I never had any respect for Paterno.

Another of the reasons was something that Paterno actually made a joke out of at a press conference before the season.  He was talking about the good old days, when if one of his players got in trouble the campus police would just call him up, he would go get the player, and then make that player run steps early in the morning as punishment.  No legal action was taken and there was no negative publicity.  Compare that to the way that the Lincoln police force has always treated Nebraska players who get in trouble.

So the legend of Saint JoePa grew, when it was all smoke and mirrors.

Speculation on my part.  He finds Sandusky in 2002 as a GA, reports it to Joe Paterno -- 2003 he is promoted to a full time assistant.  Certainly wouldn't surprise me at this point.  How do you not call the police?  It makes no sense.

He should be fired.  There was no excuse for not following up to make certain that the police were contacted and that all of the necessary steps were taken to investigate this case and to ensure that no other children were hurt.  Instead, he just turned his back on it and swept it under the rug.   Angry

Where was it in the reporting that a janitor also witnessed a gross act by Sandusky with another boy on campus...?  No way this thing just ends approximately where it stands now... there have to be people that are crapping their pants right now on the PSU campus. These things don't stay quiet for this long by just turning a blind eye there has to have been action taken by the institution to keep it quiet. How does Sandusky have the kind of resources to make the pay offs needed? What would your child's innocense be worth?

Not to make light of the situation in PSU, but I hope NU doesn't get distracted by this and stays totally focus on the task at hand by beating the Nittany Lions on Saturday.  Let PSU be the one's distracted and lose this game being JoePa's last ever home game along with it being Senior Day.

This year is the final year of his contract. I seriously doubt he's going to get it renewed so unless he retires/resigns by the end of the season he'll be fired.

I was thinking that too.  I feel bad for the Penn State players who had nothing to do with any of this, but I hope this gives Nebraska an edge for one game, and then PSU's players can win out with an interim head coach and play in the conference championship.

He shouldn't be the "coach". Everyone that knew anything should be out. How no charges were brought against this disgrace for a human being is beyond me.  And when there were parents trying...(see Victim 8) the campus police dismissed them and once again swept under the rug.  How do you even let this scumbag on campus when you know what he did after Victim 2 is beyond me. I had respect for JoePa, but not anymore..he seems like an enabler if anything to me now.

1998, 2000, 2002 documented accounts of Sandusky in a gross act and nothing was done. This is over the term of 6 years ...  the time that has past since the last documented account, not including acts prior to 1998. These guys, pedophiles, don't just wake up and decide that day they are attracted to children, Sandusky did not begin this in 1998 what potentially can be found out prior to 1998? How these coaches spend so much time together and not wonder... how many boys were hanging around the program prior to 1998. Names and dates...
