Oregon is a perennial slow starter.  West Virginia beat itself.  Pretty much sums up why LSU beat both.  If LSU had played South Carolina then they would have been exposed considering that the latter had statistically an almost identical defense to LSU.  Alabama's defense may be great but their offense was not; fact is that Alabama could have just as easily lost to SC if they played them, too.  If LSU or Alabama loses to SC then the BC shakes out radically different.  The SEC had the perfect scheduling storm to avoid self implosion.  That's the reality of the situation.
While some of this may be interesting to debate, it really doesn't matter. The reality of the situation is that LSU lost to Bama for the title.  I am not a big fan of the "what if" scenario. You have one shot to beat the team you are playing that day. If you win, you have taken care of business. If you don't win, you just missed your opportunity and really can't blame anyone else. Only one of them would have had to lose to SC to shake up the BCS.  SC only lost by a field goal to Auburn, otherwise their season was pretty magical itself.  You give SC too little credit.

Wait you think LSU loses to South Carolina and so does Bama, sorry man, 10000% disagree.  I watched south carolina 3 times this year and without their stud running back, that offense woudl have been shut down, and LSU offense and Bama's would have buzzed through them.  You give SC way way way too much credit.

LSU would have crushed SC.  They may have screwed around for a half, but at the end it would have been a blowout.

If you really believe that then you slept through their season.  SC justified being a top 5 team if Bama is #1.

You truly are MAD, SC would never beat BAMA or LSU, now USC trojans, that is a whole other brick of cheese RAT, USC trojans I think at season end would give both of them a run for their money, that would have been fun to watch.

I base my opinion off the Georgia game.  Georgia was not in the same league as LSU (no pun intended) and Georgia beat SC.  End of story.

Yes you are 100% correct!

* Iowa State would never beat Oklahoma State,
* Texas Tech would never beat Oklahoma,
* Virginia could never beat #12 (at the time) Georgia Tech,
* Northwestern could never beat Nebraska,
* Ohio State certainly didn't beat Wisconsin.

Shall I go on?  The point: Your assertion that one team would never beat another is fundamentally flawed to say the least.

SC didn't lose to Georgia.  Maybe you meant the game at Arkansas when the post-Garcia SC offense had problems and Shaw got injured late in the game.  They had fallen two points behind when Shaw went down and Mr 3rd String QB stunk it up.  Stuff happens.

Just me and your assertion that we have the same talent as  LSU and Bama is laughable and flawed to say the least.  You are the only one who would make that point.  I never said ISU woud not be okie state, I never said Texas tech would not beat OU, I never said VU would not beat G-Tech, never said NWstern would not beat NU and never said OSU would notbeat OSU.  I said South Carolina would never beat LSU or Bama and I am speaking of this year. So keep on pumping that delusion though that we are just as talented.

This year: Iowa State beat Oklahoma State, Texas Tech beat Oklahoma, etc.  For you to say that had South Carolina played LSU or Alabama this year there was no way they could have beaten them is ludicrous.

That's because: 1) I know talent when I see it, 2) Nebraska has players that are just as big, strong and fast as anyone in the country and 3) saying Nebraska lacks talent is implying our head coach is incompetent when it comes to recruiting--which isn't even remotely true.

Nebraska's problem this past season was never talent.  Nebraska's main problems in '11 was lack of mental toughness, vocal leadership and playing far below their capabilities.  This team was soft and that's something I thought I'd never see out of a Bo Pelini coached team.

But I get it...it's just easier to say, "no talent."

So saying the team lacks talent is an unacceptable indictment of Pelini as incompetent when it comes to recruiting...but saying the team is not mentally tough, lacks vocal leadership and plays far below its capabilities isn't a similar indictment when it comes to his abilities as a head coach?

No one is saying the team lacks talent. In my opinion, we have some, we just need more. There's a definite gap between Nebraska and teams like LSU and Alabama in terms of it. And meaning no offense, if you still can't see that, then you don't "know talent when you see it" nearly as well as you keep claiming to.

C'mon, folks.  Please don't let this thread devolve into an already thoroughly-hashed and re-hashed topic.  Thx.

No it's not an unacceptable indictment free...it's merely the explanation of least resistance.

You know talent???  How can you say we match up with LSU or bama, please its a freaking joke, you are the only one who thinks this.  You have been preaching this all season long.  I will make you a bet.  We will not win a BCS national championship this year, the next or the next.  I will do you one better, USC, LSU or Bama will.  You can say you are right all you want, it wont make it so.
