this is fine with me, it will undermine the BCS and since we know that Mike Gundy is a man he can handle it.

are we sure he's a man?

Well he said he was.  He's 40 you know!   Grin

He gave a press conference in an athletic supporter and proclaimed as much Saturday night. Cheerios showered the podium. He's celebrating by going to the zoo with strippers...

That crap happens all the time.  How about Chris Peterson voting his team #5 and Michigan and TCU #15 & #18 respectively to try and keep either one or both from qualifying for at large berths?

Okie St has 1 loss against unranked and 6-6 Iowa State.  Bama has 1 loss against undefeated and #1 ranked and 13-0 LSU.  See the difference.  That's why Okie Lite isn't playing for the National title and Bama is.

I am on record saying this could be the BCS' lowest rated TV broadcast ever. No one outside the SEC and ESPN is excited about this game. I know I won't waste my time watching.

After seeing how some of the coaches and Harris voters voted, it is a sham of a system and doesn't deserve our attention. Hopefully people are so turned off by this they don't watch and the TV ratings tank. And the tone of most outside the SEC is they are sick of the system.

I agree which is why I was hoping for this match-up.  Until they get a real playoff instituted that can incorporate the bowl (which I believe Solly crafted a plan last year for one) this is what we get.  Money and Politcs run college football.  Very sad.   Cry

You realize this is not a problem with the BCS, it is a problem with the Polls.  It just so happens that the BCS uses these polls to determine who plays.  If the Pollsters had a shred of integrity, this wouldn't be a problem.

Sorry, but I get tired of the Anti-BCS crowd using any and all issues as a "reason" we need a playoff system.

These are easily the 2 best teams in all of college football, and so the BCS got it right whether anyone here chooses to admit that or not.

You know it's funny.....everyone suddenly has a problem with rematches in NCAA football, but when we get a rematch of a regular season NFL game in the SuperBowl, nobody seems to mind.

They did get it right.  I think most people would be fine with the rematch if these 2 teams were the last 2 left standing after a playoff like every other sport has. Still I agree these are the 2 best teams in college football.  I just think there needs to be a playoff and if this is something that will start the wheels in that direction then I'm all for it.

Actually, we've been heading in that direction for a while now.  Why else are we seeing the advent of "super conferences"?

Missouri in the Big XII makes sense.  Missouri in the SEC makes NO sense (by the way, does everyone here realize that next year, Missouri versus South Carolina will be an SEC East matchup?  What a joke.......)

Actually Missouri to the Big Ten makes more sense than either the Big 12 or SEC.  However Texas is who's driven 4 teams out of the conference.  They really are a cancer to the conference.  They'll go independent in less than 5 years and the conference will crumble again.  Missouri and Texas A&M are taking care of their futures by joining more stable conferences than where they were.  It may not make any sense geography wise, but it does financially though.

In the interests of the players I vote (not that it matters) to move to year-around football.  We'll stick with the twelve game season, but kill off the spring season.  And we'll break the season up so that seven games are played before the winter break.  Teams can play ONE neutral site game during the intermission period, giving the public something to watch over the holidays.  (Nothing wrong if they still are called bowl games.)  Then finish the season after mid-February with a formal playoff at the end of the regular season.  Allow only two- or four-team conference championship play-ins, to take place over a three week period.  And then field a sixteen team playoff bracket, (eleven or twelve?) conference champions and wild cards seeded by a statistics-driven power rating.  Conferences have to have at least eight members, nothing smaller or it doesn't get a tie in.  And cap it at only twelve conferences so that we don't water down every conference.  All of it above board; no BCS gerrymandering.  If you want to guarantee getting into the championship then win your conference!  No more BCS period.

And all of this so that the players spread the wear and tear on their brains out much more, protecting them from crippling brain injuries in later life.

A rematch in the SB is a result of two teams earning that opportunity in a PLAYOFF system.  This rematch is the result of biased voters determining whom they believe should be the national champion.  Both Alabama and LSU knew what was on the line when they played earlier this year (I take that back, apparently there was nothing on the line) and Alabama couldn't seal the deal at home.  Supporters of the BCS used to claim that the regular season was a playoff (again, apparently not if you are in the SEC).  I know it's trivial, but my own personal protest is I won't be watching the game, and I pray every other SEC team gets their asses handed to them this bowl season.

1st place versus 3rd place in the SEC - a rematch - for the National Championship?  Bogus.
