Before the Arena gets built, FIND a up and coming coach, let him use the arena as a recruiting tool!

Are we not going to afford Doc that same luxury? It isn't exactly something he has had at it his disposal since arriving here.

Doc's pretty much all we got at this point. I don't know who you want to bring in that seriously wants to coach basketball at Nebraska.

Would not be easy, but you would need to find the next young up and coming coach. The Butler coach for example, how young is he?
Somebody young that has better recruiting connections than Sadler, by the way how many years has he had?

Been there done that.

Doc well regarded enough in Basketball that I think he deserves a chance at creating something after NU has made a real committment.  If they haven't shown something in another 2 season, then make a change.

If we fire Doc, then you need to have a list of coaches willing to come and coach at NU.  If not then I think you need to be content with who we have and move on.

So, you are saying there is NO coach out there that would take the NU job. (you all know this is all hypothetical because we ALL know T.O. will never fire him)

Thats what we thought about Mike Anderson. While I am frustrated as well,I just don't know who we could get that would be drastically better. Doc has a really solid class coming in that may just buy him some time in my book.

I can't answer for SUHnami, but what I'm saying is we have a well-regarded basketball coach who took over for "the guy at Butler" and inherited a program in shambles, with no clear committment to the sport.  Nebraska has been at a recruiting disadvantage in terms of facilities, principles, and geography.  We are only now erasing the one category of disadvantage we can and/or would want to erase.  Before we jettison a quy who most basketball people believe CAN coach in favor of the flavor of the month who is at best an unknown, we should give the bird in hand a chance with the tools that are only now coming available.  In football, that might be 4-6 years.  In basketball, 2 years is probably enough to know.

Not saying that no one would take the job.  I am saying that you aren't going to find someone better than Doc to coach at NU.  Just isn't going to happen.  If you get rid of Doc you are either hiring a mid major coach or a supposed up and comer with little to no experience as a HC.

If you honestly think you're going to get Brad Stevens to come to Nebraska, I will sit back, pour a drink, and laugh at you while you wait.

Doc's a tricky subject.  Unlike Pelini, Doc is a class act.  He runs a clean program and is a good person.  Doc took a job where he understood that it would be an uphill climb.  Do any of you really understand what it is like to recruit here?  Recruit a basketball player to the middle of nowhere with no practice facility?  We were the only school in the Big 12 without a practice facility.  Prior to this year, we had to rotate practices with the womens basketball team like we were a f*****g high school team.  Often times we had players who couldn't even practice because their academic schedule ran a bit too late.  Our basketball program was treated like a joke.

I'm not saying that Doc shouldn't be let go at the end of this year.  All I'm saying is that it is hard to recruit and win here.  We can Doc we start from scratch and we had better be prepared to give a new coach at least 5 years here.  It would take Coach K himself 3 years to start winning here.

That said, if we are looking for a new coach at the end of the year.....which we won't because our A.D. doesn't think right, John Groce of Ohio would be a perfect fit.  He wouldn't be here forever, but he would give this program a boost.

I stopped following Husker BB darn near after Jerry Fort left, definitely not followed them since Moe Iba was calling the shots.  But this guy hasn't been treated nearly as well as Pelini has by this board.  I'm impartial too, lol.
