will be interesting to see how they play, shorthanded. Would think a blowout would be in order. But you never know, thats why they play the game!

Doc needs to resign, in all seriousness, this is a pathetic example of a Division 1 BB program. The Big 12 was full of slap dick coaches that teams won on talent mostly, now that Doc is in a coaches league, all will see what a poor coach he truly is. 40 points scored at home? Injured players, sure, but how many true Division 1 players are on this team, 1, maybe 2? Doc should resign from the guilt of putting together such a poor pool of talent and then not being able to field a remotely competitive team. After all, what are a coach's responsibilities?

Everyone bitched and moaned about how crappy our non-con was. So what did we do? We went out and played our hardest non-con since I can remember. We go 8-3. Then we get drummed by a Top 10 team on our home floor without two of our best players. Yeah I'm all for a coaching change, but under Doc have we really been a "pathetic example of a Division 1 Basketball program?" If every year we had 1 or 2 conference wins, I'd agree with you. This is not the case. While going to the CBI/NIT most years doesn't make you good by any means, it doesn't make you pathetic either.
I do agree with you at least part of the time, Chris. While I wouldn't call Doc a poor recruiter, I would say he's below average, and to win at Nebraska you can't be a below average recruiter. Being a below average recruiter at Nebraska makes you look a lot worse than you are. You are right, there's no reason we shouldn't be a much better program which is why I support a coaching change as well if Doc doesn't seriously turn this ship around this season.
As far as only having "only 1, maybe 2 Division one players", I'm not sure where you are trying to go with that. Diaz, McCray, Richardson, and Spencer are all major conference Division 1 players. I've seen enough practices to know that Rivers is too. I've seen worse players than Ubel playing the 4 for pretty solid mid-major teams which would make him a Division 1 player. Walker is the type of athlete you need in the Big 12. Moore and Hilliard I'm not sure on yet. There's not enough talent at Nebraska to win a lot of games in a major conference, that's for sure. Our bench is a joke and it's been made worse due to injuries and that lies completely on Doc's shoulders.
I see why McDermott failed in the Big 12 then, it's just a bunch of "slap dick" coaches. He must just be above the Big 12 conference then.

McCray and Spencer are legit BIG TEN/BCS level players. Who else on the roster would start or get a look as a rotation guy on a BIG TEN or BCS team? Who's fault is that for recruiting and not developing talent?
As for McDermott, the guy is a great mid major coach, but not a good BCS level coach, I would put him in the slap dick category. Some guys can attract elite talent, others can coach it, few can do both. The prime example of a slap dick is Rick Barnes, the ONLY reason Texas was any good the last 5-6 years under him is each year he would have 2-3 NBA level players on the roster. That guy couldn't coach a YMCA team to a win where everyone had the same 6 grade talent...
Not looking to argue, it is just amazing that NU can't be a .500+ conference level team year in and out, which now playing in the BIG all but guarantees a trip to the big dance. I am not looking for us to be UConn, Duke or UNC, just a winning conferencr record, a 6 six in the tourney and win a game or 2 once every 2-4 years. That really should not be so hard, after all, they do it in Manhattan, Waco, Spokane and all other kinds of places that do not have the resources or advantages of Nebraska...

At the end of the day I agree with you. It's falls on Doc's shoulders and I'm fully ready for a change. I was ready for a change after last year but understood it was important to let it play out while our facilities were being developed. It is hard to win here, but you're right, it's hard to win at other places and some are doing it.

been reading that some longtime fans are not coming to games anymore and telling there friends not to come. People are begging for change. End of the year I would like to hear an endorsement of the program from T.O.!

Anybody care to speculate what our record will end up this year!
I'll say NU squeezes out a 4-14 maybe 5-13 conference record finishing either 12-17 or 13-16.
Wins at home versus Iowa, Penn St. and either Illinois or Minnesota and a road win vs Iowa, Penn St. or Northwestern.
Gonna stay with my prediction. I was really worried the team would quit today if things got ugly. Hope the 3 pointers keep going down at a decent pace because that will be the only chance to beat one of these teams. With little to no inside presence I say fire away.
