What does my post have to do with the MVC?  When did I ever compare NU or Doc to MVC teams or systems?  You made that comparison, not me.

Fact is, Doc is the Head Coach at NU, Doc is a bad recruiter, Doc is a bad talent developer and Doc is a bad in game coach.  Doc has brought in little talent, not developed any of it to all conference level, and cannot put a system in place that produces winning at a +.500 conference level consistently.  Not asking for Final Fours or Naismith winners here.

As far as putting a system in place, I could care less what system is run, I do not want a "system only" coach.  I want a coach who can look at what he has, and for lack of a better term, make chicken salad out of chicken scratch.  Over time as he recruits, coaches and develops his players a more defined system might evolve, but as opponents teams change, injuries, transfers and other things beyond control happen, what NU needs is a good "coach", not somebody running his system.

I just said that's a typical mid-major fans POV.  That's all I was getting it.  I'll give you that too many of Doc's players never get better.  We will just have to agree to disagree about an in game coach.  At any rate, this is all semantics and doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things as we both want the same outcome.

Yes, I agree, the only outcome is a new direction for the program, or what is left of it.

Not to be a smart alleck, but did we really ever have a decent basketball program?  I know Nee got us to the dance a few times but we never won a game.  We also have no basketball history.  So any direction is a new direction for this program.

Nee had some really good teams that had bad luck or didn't play defense well enough when it really mattered.  Our history has been pretty bad though.  Basically we have nothing to loose or we can just continue to accept the fact that we are bad.  Which do you prefer?

We weren't great when I was there, but Moe Iba was a damn good coach who could figure out how to beat the big boys once in a while. There were people sitting on the wooden planks up in the corners of they Devaney too when the better Big  8 teams came to play.
