No.  The blow-out of Clemson will have no carry-over value.  At best they finish third, and probably more like fifth.

No Defense.   Grin

Seriously, though, no defense, probably due in large part to rules changes over the years hampering the defense.

It now looks like its due to all the defensive players going to Bama.

West Virginia's offense lit the LSU defense up everywhere save the scoreboard.  The WVU coughed the ball up four times and there was an LSU special teams TD;  that was the big difference in the game.  Otherwise the concept of smothering defenses is unique to the SEC because they suck at offense down there.

In my talent threads I made the same, and additional arguments but was pooh poohed roundly.

LSU and Alabama have great players on defense for sure, but they go against, collectively, the weakest, most feeble, collection of psuedo offenses that college football has to offer.

That's because those teams are the best in the country year in and out on defense.  Of course those offenses look week.  Bama had the #1 defense in the country.  It showed.  Had they played Okie Lit.  MY prediction would've been 42-14 Bama.  OSU's defense is nowhere as good as LSU's.

And if LSU or Alabama had to play in offensive leagues like the Big and Pac 12 their defenses wouldn't be nearly as statistically dominant.

Have they settled the lawsuit with the Big East yet?  I thought a judge denied their request to block the lawsuit filed by the Big East for Breach of Contact.

Okie States defense faced brutal offenses all year and were able to cope because they forced more turnovers than any other defense in D-1A.  Statistics don't always tell the whole tale.   No doubt in my mind that Blackmon scorches their secondary like he did everyone elses.  And that QB at OSU was strong armed he could throw hard enough to thread those tough secondaries.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.  I'm betting they would.
