Whoops this thread got a little off track and I aided in it.  Lets get back to Jamal Turner.  I'm not sure what he's going to pursue at NU.  Whichever way he goes he's going to give full out effort in doing so.  He's learned from this past season.   Smiley

I hope he's moved back to QB.

If Armstrong is the real deal, then Turner can probably help us more at WR.  Also, that (and special teams) is most likely his future in the NFL.

That's the deal.  We don't know if Armstrong is the real deal.  We do know Turner played QB is HS.  We have a lack of depth at QB and Turner should be given a shot at shaking that depth up.  Not sure why there's such a hesitation to try Turner at QB by some fans.  Right now, we have Carnes behind Martinez.  Evidently, for a variety of reasons, Carnes can't push Martinez for playing time.  No one can.  Given Martinez is a game manager QB now... we should explore all options on getting better play from the QB position.

I am very much in the move Turner to QB camp, but also use him at WR.  Other schools do it, I think it maximizes the talent we have.  Get the best/most explosive players on the field.

I posted this in the recruiting forum, but it really belongs here...

I'm inclined to favor a modified two quarterback system next season.  I'd like to see Martinez continue to develop and get the majority of snaps while using Turner as a wildcat QB who presents as a true threat to throw the ball down field, and continue to use him at WR (see Northwestern for a good example of this working successfully).  This would reduce the wear and tear on both Martinez and Burkhead and it would give Turner a chance to develop and make big plays for NU.  It's by far the best plan.  I hope the coaches agree...

I have no issues with a dual system at QB.  To be honest, it would probably push T mart to new highs and would absolutely give our offense a new dimension.  I remember Van Brown and Jerry Taggy doing split time.  TO used it well in the 94 Orange Bowl.

If Bo wants T mart in the game, run him at slot receiver.
