While I think the tone came across whiney, I took the comments to be an attempt at motivating more than anything. Maybe I'm just looking at this all wrong. We had a secondary that under-performed most of the year. Dennard was solid, but when we needed someone to step up at the other corner, we saw a hodge podge of different guys trying to fill in....and not particularly well.
I don't know if Bo decides who see's the field and who doesn't, but one might be pressed to debate that we used our physically most talented players in the secondary the majority of the time. I know a guy has to know what to do and when, but he also has to be able to cover, defend and tackle elite athletes. SC had some tremendous athletes at the receiver positions. We did a pretty decent job most of the time, but there were breakdowns and we saw times we were outmanned. I also have to wonder if our lack of talent at some of those positions reduced our ability to blitz as often as we have in the past.
Raymond may have stepped in it a bit, but I didn't see it as an attempt to embarrass, so much as an effort to motivate. A coach doesn't really help his stock when he shoots himself in the foot bad mouthing a program. It's a close knit group and that could greatly hurt his employment chances in the future.
Totally agree with what you are saying.

The fact of the matter is - regardless of what stupid personal decisions Sanders made, he was one hell of a secondary coach. Raymond inferring that our talent isn't up to snuff is just an excuse because the secondary's drop off was so dramatic, and he's sidestepping responsibility for that.
I think Dennard is equal talent to the guys we had last year. Is the rest of bunch the same talent? Doubtful. There are some guys who look to be good... but they are green. Having said that, the coach needs to watch how he puts things.

It was Schlesinger who was not a walk on. I think me and my old man had the same discussion.

Whether it is true or not, there are things that don't need to be said by someone in an authority position. The clever don't need to lie. They can just circumvent the situation so nimbly that no one notices that they never said anything. The rest of us, just need to stay quiet.

Can someone update me on the status of Rodriguez, his status with the team, and with Cotton?

Rodriguez was plagued by several nagging injuries in 2011, some of which may unfortunately be chronic going forward. (Marcel Jones-like). Cotton's knee was horrible, with ACL, MCL, and PCL all involved. It will be determined in the Spring if he'll even be able to return.
Sirles and Thompson need to get their respective poop in a group, if only for experienced depth, and the staff needs to go after Peat hammer & tong down the stretch, because it isn't any sort of stretch to think he has a better than 50-50 chance at not only playing, but starting in 2012 - and yes, as many have speculated, he
is
that good.

Why am I hearing boosters say he was in the doghouse with Cotton. I thought he was a favorite the first half of the season. And since he's a stud IMHO it surprises me to hear that. I can understand injuries, but doghouse I do not. Too many good players get associated with the doghouse on our team. Discipline is not always involving punishment, there are other methods and perspectives to entertain.
I was wondering why he seemed to disappear lately. I'm hoping we rotate lineman and keep the young guys flowing into the game. It accelerates their growth as players.

I'm beginning to wonder what game I watched because from what I saw Nebraska's secondary had tremendous coverage the majority of the time.
Conner Shaw had 230 yards passing, 51 of which came on that ridiculous hail mary at the end of the first half.

Well I don't have any specific info, but I do know A-Rod was hurt, but also you could see him doggin it and taking plays off during games. Especially since his replacement Choi was blowing cats up when he was in. So it's possible if he was in Cotton's doghouse (which again I don't know if he was) that it was due to under performing in games and practice.
