To this day, Bohl often credits Osborne for his success – which at NDSU has been 74 wins, only 17 shy of Rocky Hager’s school record.

Osborne established a process that rarely wavered, even during some 9-3 seasons, which were considered down years at Nebraska back then. He stressed the value of hard work. He developed a coaching staff that became cohesive. He recruited area kids with work ethic and sprinkled in some speed and blue-chip talent from around the country.

“All those things we brought here (NDSU),” Bohl said. “It’s a carbon copy.”

“That’s quite flattering,” Osborne said. “Craig knows football, and he is a very hard worker. Those are two things that are critical to being a successful coach.”

Bohl's team....North Dakota State....will play Sam Houston State on January 7 for the FCS national championship.

Not gonna be next year, or the year after that.  But he will be our next coach.  My hope and prediction.

I'm not thinking anytime soon.  Just my prediction.   Smiley  He's very good at NDSU, but that doesn't mean it'll translate to the next level.

I like our current coach Suh, and hope he stays,  but something tells me his roots are shallow in Lincoln.  Obviously I have no insider information out here in Burque,  but his apparent roving eye has me a bit concerned.  You are right though, not sure CB's success will translate, but I think we could do alot worse, and have done so this decade.

Some coaches make great coordinators or position coaches but  not a very good head coaches and then there are lousy head coaches that make great coordinators or position coaches.

My Take on Bo, Bohl and Callahan

I watched the game and enjoyed it thoroughly,  I have followed Willie Fritz for many years and hated to see him leave my alma mater for SHS and liked when at NU and Bohl had a hard act to follow.

That's cool bro.  Yeah IMO if Bo leaves it's for the NFL.  Just me though.  I don't think that's going to be for awhile.  He still has things he wants to accomplish at NU.  Smiley

Happy to see Bohl's team win today.  He was a lousy d-coordinator at Nebraska, but he has definitely found his level and his calling.  I remember thinking that NDSU was crazy to hire him as their head coach.  Oops....was I ever wrong!   Embarrassed

One thing to ponder.....If Bohl had been a better d-coordinator at Nebraska, we would probably not have Bo Pelini as our head coach today.

So, depending on how you feel about Bo, you either have Bohl to thank or to blame.   Tongue

Agree.  At our level, he stunk as a DC.  He's doing well at NDSU.  Enough said.

Bohl's record at NDSU as HC:

75 - 31, 1 national championship, in 9 years.

Hard to believe he's been in Fargo for 9 years already.
