I've heard Cooper is could be/has/or will move to an OLB position.  Does anyone have any inside "real" information on this, or is it all rumor?  I've heard from somewhere, I don't remember where, it has already happened and he was practicing there in bowl practices.  Is this true?

I've heard that both Cooper and Stafford are now LBs.

If true I have no problem with it. The defense went backwards last season as we went away from the Peso. Had the Peso been ran last season our defense would have been drastically better!

Solly confirmed that Cooper was practicing at LB since the regular season. That is about as "real" as it gets. I think, but don't recall, that he also shot down the rumor that Stafford was moving from safety. Given that no one could overtake him or Cassidy, I don't think Stafford gets moved. . . .   Hopefully PJ Smith can move in Cassidy's role as deep cover . . .

Looking at past classes, who do we have at S? Will we have to move a couple of CBs there, or hit the JUCOs hard, because the move of Cooper to LB (if true) really thins out that position after next year.

Harvey Jackson, Bronson Marsh, Wil Richardson are under classmen.

Smith, Stafford and Osborne are all seniors this year?

Cooper practiced at LB but he could be moved back to S full time.  It'll depend on his development and the team needs.  Stafford is at safety.

That's pretty thin. It also looks like we are missing on all of our S prospects as well.

Is Marsh moving back to safety?  Last I knew he was playing scout team QB.

Count me as one who is glad to see player changes at certain positions. Abilities didn't always match positions this last year imo.

I think - but cannot link - that Bo said Bronson might get a look at QB, but more than likely he was headed to safety . .

Marsh was a scout team qb last year, Richarson is a walkon. We are very thin in scholly Safetys.

Bo hasn't done a good job at spacing out his recruits, IMO.

Bum, I agree the defense went backwards., but do you really think running the peso against B1G offenses would have worked? The peso was designed to combat the spread. Our last few years of recruiting on defense have been (imvho) to fill the peso.  I think its just going to take a few classes to adjust the type of kids recruited to better combat more traditional offenses.

We're going to see both spread and traditional offenses in the B1G.  We better be able to defend both.
