On ESPN.com yesterday they had a thing about which states produce the best quarterbacks. naturally Texas, California, Ohio, Penn. were all on the list and understandably so. My question is who are the best quarterbacks that the state of Nebraska produced (not the university).

Eric Crouch
Todd Dixon
Scott Frost

Who else has the state produced???

There was a Nebraska kid who played for Colorado State who ended up playing in the NFL.  Back in the 80s.  Nebraska didn't recruit the kid because he was a drop back passer type QB.  Kelly something.

Kelly Stouffer, from Rushville. Had a long NFL career, too. Nathan Enderlere is in the pros.  Was it Dixon who played at Iowa State?

There was a Lincoln High grad - class of 86' - whose name slips my mind that ended up starting at Army.  Brian McWilliams?

Tagge was born here but raised elsewhere (Wisconsin I think) so he probably doesn't count. Gerry Gdowski was from Fremont. Clete Blakeman from Norfolk and I think Bob Churchich was from Omaha. Wouldn't bet my life on any of these so if I'm wrong hopefully someone will correct the above.

Sheesh coach Bob would have slapped me silly if I didn't mention Nathan Enderle....now with the Bears.

I'll buy that............

Wasn't Crouch a running back and Frost a shotputter I believe.  I could be wrong but neither one couldn't hit the ground on a spike as I recall.

Berringer comes to mind as a quarterback..

I think he was born in Scottsbluff, and moved to Goodland. I could be wrong.

I think too many players from within the state of Nebraska are largely ignored by the Nebraska coaching staff, past and present.

Without a doubt the very best ever QB to come out of Nebraska.  Do you know how good you had to play to be the first black starting QB in the NFL in 1969?

Disagree.  The staffs, past and present, have hit on most of the kids who have turned out good.  We've had a string of really good OL prospects leave the state the last couple years.  I hope that ends.

Oh, and I think that you are talking about Todd DOXON, the Millard North qb who went to ISU. Also, who was the kid from Omaha North who played with Niles Paul, went to ISU and transferred to Ohio.

Clester Johnson and Tony Veland were both good HS QBs who moved to other positions at NU.
