guess what? its a tough one. i don't think this one will be anywhere near like the first one. that team played scared. i really think the days of this team getting blown out are over. people don't recognize what diaz and talley mean to this team. think about it - doc is playing 7. he was missing 2 of those 7 against 3 top 15 teams. and with them out, the bench provided nothing. now, what does that mean for today? i think it means they'll be competitive. i think this team is up to at least what we've come to expect from a doc team. they're going to give everybody a scare and play their butts off. and beyond that, i think they have more offensive firepower than doc has probably ever had. i really do think they can be dangerous.

specifically against OSU, it'll be tough sledding. diaz will neutralize sullinger to a degree. sullinger isn't really a dynamic offensive player. he plays below the rim. he has nice moves in the post, but he's 6'9" and not that explosive. (cue sullinger going off for 28 tonight, right?) i think the biggest matchup problems are buford and thomas. thomas, especially. he's going against mccray and ubel. mccray got abused wednesday by watford. he's going to struggle to guard thomas. he's a big, nasty 4 who can put it in the hole. buford is a guy who is a great athlete who can also shoot the heck out of it. i'd expect to see walker on him. when he's out, probably talley. i like those 2 guys on d, but that's a real tough assignment. the most important thing defensively is stopping penetration. this team has been giving up way too many drives to the paint - going back to oregon and wake. it must drive doc nuts. they did it wednesday in the first half, too. indiana drove and got kicks, dishes and pull ups. that's really a killer. if OSU can do that today, it'll get ugly. they're really going to have to close out to the ball and get their butts down and their feet moving. because they can dish to sullinger underneath or kick it out to any number of shooters. but i think this team has a bounce in their step this week and will play with their hair on fire. i really hope there's a big, early crowd who's ready to get wild.

offensively, i'll stick with my little attempt at poetry again - ride diaz, pray for mccray, and hope this is the fun part of the bollercoaster. talley adds a dimension that messes up my poem, though.

Not a good shooting performance in the first half [/understatement] Pick it up, Huskers.

We are so outmanned in this game it's not even funny.  Not surprising this would happen though.  Sad

First basketball game I've been to in years. Holy cow, there was too much terrible there to mention. Ubel surprised me, though. He played fairly well straight-up against Sullinger.

This was awful.  I turned it off.  I couldn't watch.

Dayum!  That score was even worse than when tOSU whupped us at their place.  I turned it off @66-36.  How exactly did we beat Indiana again?

Well, that'll sure ruin any good will Doc had built after that Indiana game.

The good news is, the remainder of the conference slate is much easier compared to what we've been through.  I figured we'd start 1-7, and we're 2-6, so better than I thought we'd be.

I say:

We split Iowa/Northwestern on the road
Beat Minny at home
Lose to Michigan at home
Beat Penn State on the road.
Beat Illinois at home
Lose to Purdue and Michigan State on the road
Beat Iowa at home
lose to Minnesota on the road

So we finish the conference slate 5-5 in the last 10.  7-11 in the Big Ten.  Probably enough for Doc to keep his job under TO.

did you watch the last game, any game left has to have a better than 50% of being a loss!

Will be shocked if the Huskers win 2 more games all year. This team is beyond terrible, they just simply don't care. Gave up after they trailed by 15. McCray is a complete waste of talent. He's the Randy Moss of college basketball, he only plays hard when he feels like it. That was a complete waste of my money.
