.

What do you guys think?  Am I crazy here?  Would Doc even accept a job like that?  Would asking him to take this job be insulting?  It would certainly be a pay decrease, but I've heard Doc doesn't want to coach that much longer.  The only reason I mention this is because I think he is a "Nebraska guy" even though he has no real ties here.

The question you pose is.... Where would doc go from here??? if you bomb at the lowest of BCS gigs you are left at best with a lower mid-major gig IMO. with that being said, I say he would take the AAD job, it wont pay any less than what he would earn at LMM.

Personally I think TO gives him one more year, a full season of recruiting with the new practice facility has been earned and was probably talked about at the time of hire. Doc seems to have embraced the change of AD with TO and judging from his actions (and lack of further insulting words as a CU fan) uses TO as a resource seeking and using that advise and paying heed to TO's suggestions... I say he has one more year before Dana takes over  Cool.

What Doc has going for him is that he's a great public speaker, he can make a crowd laugh, and truly is a good person.

Do I see him taking Osborne's place as AD? I don't know, I never considered him as an AD to be quite honest.

I wasn't suggesting that Doc replace Osborne, I was suggesting that Doc would work under Osborne....basically directing the basketball programs.  The same thing Marc Boehm does, only minus the complete incompetence.

Waylon, I will personally lose a lot of respect for Osborne as an A.D. if he gives Doc another year.  Nebraska will completely tank next year, even with Doc as coach.  You have to have the foresight to see this.  You might as well make next season a rebuilding year with a new coach.  I will lose ALL respect for Osborne as an A.D. if he hires Altman.  At that point, I'd rather have T.O. rubber stamp Doc until he's gone.  That way a real A.D. could make a decision.

roumors are that Dana is a very real possibility, Dana's Dad is getting older, he grew up a NU fan, it will be one last gig before he retires..... him and TO see the world thru the same color glasses. Hard for me to imagine it but it keeps coming up. Personality wise he is a very good fit for the state of Nebraska, very much like TO himself.  TO might have ideas for DA as an AAD or AD down the road as well...... Wouldnt you take him or Doc over Trev Alberts or Jamrog?

then again roumors are rumors..... Just stay away from Bruce Rasmussin! Grin

I can't imagine the amount of vitriol that would come from the Creighton fanbase if Altman took the Nebraska gig. Actually, I would probably laugh pretty hard.  Cool
