No Diaz today....I think we could win this game 8 times out of 10 at home with Diaz. Really, it's about a 50/50 shot. Looking a little sloppy early.

Way to finish the half. Monster-oop to Walker....buzzer beater from 3 to end the half.

Lackluster effort in the second half thus far. Not having a center has to hurt and I'm sure Doc is not coaching them to stand around and not move on offense, but this kind of loss would be a giant-sized nail in his coffin. Maybe it is time to start looking for a replacement. I like Doc, but the results aren't there. We have the facilities. Our lack of tradition hurts, but we can get somebody in here who can win at a higher percentage.

Yup. Sad way to end that game. We were very poor in the 2nd half. Not having Diaz kills us obviously, but we can still play better than that without him. I still think this team will win some games....you gotta get Minnesota at home though.
Yeah, I think Doc's done. T.O. would be a very poor A.D. if he didn't make a change at the end of the year. The only way I wouldn't Doc gone is if T.O. brought in Altman to replace him. He's be a very, very, very poor A.D. at that point.

Doc said that it's possible Diaz won't play again this season.
Le sigh.

Nothing but bad luck for Doc and the boys.

Yea, after the last two games, I just don't see how they could keep Doc around any longer. It's been 6 (or 7?) years... And he's just not getting the job done.

I dont think you are going to be very happy with TO then. I think DA would be a very good choice for ALL Nebraskans to get behind.

It's not that Altman is a bad coach. I think he's a good coach, probably a slight upgrade over Doc in terms of X's and O's...definately a better offensive coach. I think Altman would be a little bit better recruiter too. I could care less what's a "very good choice for ALL Nebraskans to get behind". I care about getting the hire right. We got the best practice facility in the nation and now were are getting a brand new arena that will kick major ass. We have a top 15 athletic budget. With the facilities we have now, there is absolutely NO reason to settle for Dana Altman. Period, end of story.
Dana isn't a good enough of recruiter to win here. No way we should settle for another 5 or 6 years of this. There's a big difference between recruiting from Nebraska as a mid major and recruiting from Nebraska as a power conference team. McDermott can tell you all about that. We need a very good recruiter to win here. I think with the facilities we have now, it's possible to get one of these guys.
At the end of the day, I don't think Osborne is that stupid to give Altman the reigns to our basketball program.

all very good points...... but see football program, see baseball program. Like the facilities of both are not top 15 in the nation? both have far more storied history than Basketball, both were handed off to unknown HC quantities. DA is a homerun by comparison.
DA fits TO's "inside" angle, there is mutual comfort between the two.
DA is far more proven than either of those choices, it could happen.

Sadly, you might be right. There's no doubt that it may be an option. I LOVE Osborne as a football coach and as a person....what a great guy! When it comes to making major decisions for our athletic programs, I don't like some of his decisions. If T.O. wants Altman because he's a Nebraska guy and that's his buddy, then what an unrational way to pick a head coach. I'll don't know if I will be laughing or crying a couple of years from now when our basketball team is playing in the new arena drawing 5,000 fans for a big conference game. In the same position, can't get over the hump because we can't get the recruits we need.
We have a small window of opportunity, we could really knock this thing out of the park. Everything sets up so perfectly, only to be ruined by hiring a mid-major guy who's an average recruiter. Wow. That would be horrible.
