Well, that fly ball that Abeita dropped, he should've caught it but it wasn't entirely routine.  The wind had started to act up and played with it a little, either that or he just misjudged the crap out of the ball, which I think it was the former.

Also, does anybody know what the story was with the checking of the bat in one of the extra innings.

Well I made it to the game in the 8th inning after work.  Little did I know I'd actually get to see a full 9 innings of baseball!

Very disheartening loss tonight, guys.  BUT, I think that tomorrow and Sunday we are going to see what this team is really about.  It's such a disheartening, disappointing feeling to play 16 innings over 5 1/2 hours and lose the game like we did, especially when we had chances to score the winning run, and chances to prevent the eventual winning runs from scoring.  Now is when this team needs to come together.  We need to see how they respond to this.  If we can come back tomorrow and win after such a tough loss, then finally put together a strong game on a Sunday and take the series, then this team is going a very long way this season.  However, if we let this loss get to us, and get swept this weekend, it might be a short post season for HCMA and the gang.

I think this is really going to be defining point in the season for this team.

Apparently, Opitz's bat had too much pine tar so one of the umps removed it from the game. Typically when that happens, you get ejected, but I don't think Opitz was tossed out. Homolka was umpiring home plate in case you didn't know. Should've filed a protest from the start of the game for having Bob at home plate.

I agree. We'll see how this team responds this afternoon if they can get the game in. I cannot imagine what Coach A said to the team after the loss.

A pine tar incident with no charging out of the mound? Not worth it.
