Just saw it tonight and it was very good. There are some scenes in particular in which you really need to suspend your disbelief.

I won't go into any plot details or talk about it for a couple of days because I want to give people time to see it.

Be forewarned though, it is an Indiana Jones unlike the previous three.

It shares some commonalities, action, humor and a yet another brilliant performance by Harrison Ford.  The supporting cast; Kate Blanchett does a nice job as the villianess. Shia Lebouf, or whatever his name is, he doesn't give a great performance but he's not bad either.  Karen Allen's role as Marion Ravenwood could have been larger and more central to the plot but I'm nit-picking here.

I thought it was very good overall on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it an 8.  It's definately worth seeing.

Rented Indy 3 "Last Crusade" last night so the kids could get a taste of it before we see 4.  It was a lot cornier than I remembered.

Kingdom of th Crystal Skull was AWESOME! There was that scene, I know the one you are talking about Husker94 (toward the beginning of the movie). And, of course it's a movie, but there are different degrees of suspension of disbelief-- and this one is almost off the scale. But I am willing to give it a pass, because the rest of the movie is AWESOME.

Taking the family tomorrow night to see it.  Can't wait.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my all time favorite movies.  A classic film.

Off topic a little... but what are movie tickets going for in Nebraska now?  I just paid $8.50 for an evening show.  $6.25 for a kid's ticket.

It depends...I usually go to Village Point or AMC in Omaha and the Grand in Lincoln. The Grand and Village Point are owned by Marcus Theaters now (a recent acquisition) and the price has gone up from 6ish to 7 for students (hey I still have my N card   ). AMC is 8.50 for students I think, but it is probably the best experience for a movie goer.

I paid $4 to get into AMC this morning (before noon.) Indy 4 is great. Maybe not the best in the series, but I still liked it a lot.

Exactly! Raiders is in a class of it's own-- but Kingdom holds up very well (much better than Temple of Doom).

Quoted for truthiness...

One thing Indy 4 had, which is a staple of all the Indiana Jones films, is the way the bad guys die.

Edit:  I mean "guys" in a generic sense...

Saw it tonight.  Wow.  One of the best movies I've seen in a while.  Raiders of the Lost Ark is still the class of the Indiana Jones series... but this one is a close second.  If you're a fan of the Indiana Jones movies... you have to see this film.

Saw it last night.  Good, not great IMO.  The adventure was great the ending got even a little hokey for Indiana Jones.  I agree that Karen Allen's part could have been bigger.  I liked how they made him older and used the Cold War as a backdrop.

I tried to lower my expectations (don't trust Lucas's artistic vision ever since Phantom Menace, Clones, Sith) but I still was not impressed.  This movie would have been awesome 10 years ago, but he was in the midst of those prequels.

We watched National Treasure 2 on video after Indy and I was more entertained by that the second time than Crystal Skull.

I thought National Treasure 2 was stupid...

As for Indiana 4, I thought it was very good overall...I just had some issues with some of the scenes;

1.  Indy surviving a nuclear blast in a lead lined fridge...puleeze!  That fridge was at ground zero and would've been vaporized in the blast.

2.  Marion driving that vehicle off the cliff, the tree "catching" the vehicle and bending until the vehicle is on the bottom of the canyon, they drive off and the tree springs back up.

3.  Going over three water falls and nobody dies from drowning.

4.  Mutt, while stradling two vehicles engages in a sword fight and doesn't fall.

5.  The aliens.

the only thing that kind of bothered me was the whole alien thing.  Just seems out of place in a Indy movie.  otherwise it was classic indiana jones.  go back and watch the others.  There are PLENTY of WTF ever moments in them too!

Yep, this was the one that got me. You are exactly right, it would have been vapor. In fact I believe the heat would have reached it before the blast wave, but I could be mistaken. To me this is the only one that I had really had to struggle with to suspend my dis-belief.

2,3 and 4??? Well, of course they were pretty much impossible... but that's SOP in an Indiana Jones movie.

5.  The aliens.

People have argued for years that aliens were involved with the Mayans, Aztecs,Toltecs, Incas and ancient Egyptians...  Not that I buy into that, but it didn't seem that much of a stretch for a movie, to me. I have heard that Lucas said that he "dumbed down" the script a bit... I wish he wouldn't have. It could have been even better, although maybe a bit more controversial with those who had trouble with aliens in the movie.

If the aliens had stuck around, imparted Indy with some sort of knowledge or launched some plot to take over the Earth... then I would have had a problem with it. But, as it stands, it really didn't bother me.
