Fall sports officially started this week in Nebraska. At least football, not sure on the other ones. It's been pretty warm out under the sun, thank god for Morning/Evening practices. Anyone care to make some pre-season predictions?

Let's go Northeast Rockets.
Open with Prep, I don't know how that game is going to go for my alma mater, it'll be interesting to watch Pensick against not only Lechner but also Jeff Uher is his name I believe.

News flash now that they and A.L. are now playing the Iowa schools and not in the metro, Schools the same size of population they are no longer the doormats. They can actually compete with schools their same size. Just speaking as an A.L. alum that led the metro conference in tackles as a soph, junior and senior.
The way it was set up sucked back then. We were 500 in the metro my senior year beat the #2 team in the state of Iowa handily at their house and we werent invited to the state playoffs. I would have loved to play in the conference they are in now.
Just a side note though if you look at the all time passing records for the metro conference a guy from A.l. back in the 60's owns about every major record.

They were some some dirty sobs when I played them. After I had an 80 yard touchdown and a pr for a td against them. They kept poking me in the eyes through my face mask at the end of plays. I got them back though on the other side of the ball I took jason williams over his bench and into the chain link fence behind it and took the 15 yard penalty. Did I forget to mention also that williams didnt wear a cup  8O

Yeah, I know they are playing schools the same size...but from what I have followed (my mom still sends me Nonpareil clippings! 8O ) they haven't fared a whole lot better...they win more games, but I am telling you, if we had their schedule back in the late 80's when I played there, we may have done better.... I always enjoyed playing AL, LC, and SA Omaha Gross etc b/c we knew we had a fighter's chance to win...playing Central and Prep - well, not so much!
When did you play for AL BugEater?

mid-to late 80s
I was the one that crushed madsen on the 4rth and 1 to seal our 4rth straight victory over you guys my senior year. all state MLB, in the world herald football preview my name came before the schools name in the headline, first time I ever saw that. it was cool. I had all kinds of offers including from the Dr. If I would have went and red shirted I would have a couple of rings. But I thought with the wrong head and had a kid with a girl from your school. Tried to do the honorable thing and stay home to pay the bills. Didnt work out, now have a wife from L.C. been married 17 yrs rying to raise a new Husker. Son by my wife is going into 8th grade 14 yrs old 6ft tall 180 lbs already, out in underwood Ia.
getting back on topic, I would have loved to have played in the conference they are in now. We had the biggest line that A.L. had, had in 30 years bookend tackles that were 6'4 and 6'6 260 lbs center was 6 250 gaurds were 6'1 and 6'3 245 and 250. me at MLB and TB I was 6 220 electronic timed in 40 at 4.45

4th straight victory? In 88 (my sophmore yr) we beat you guys 6-3 in OT. It was our only win of the yr :005 :003 :001
Then we lost two straight to you in 89 and 90 each game by a touchdown. (btw - Madsen was a joke as far as I am concerned. he had like 1/2 of a friend on the team. Coach Daugherty had a hard on for him and forgot about the rest of us trying to get into college. I was the only other guy from our class to play college ball d-3 ) I do remember you guys having a big o-line for a yr or two. Your first name wouldn't happen to be Mike would it?
Congrats on the kid - sounds like he may have a future and Underwood is a good program to grow up in. My oldest is 9 and a big boy as well...hopefully Pelini will be around to send our kids some letters eh?
I LOVE Tampa. The beach in December is awesome! I loved being able to trade in my snow shovel for the sand shovel.
