I., too, am curious as to how the game turned out (from the perspective of 'Husker fans).
Also, how are they handling rosters now online? Are there rosters available with appropriate information for all teams, is it piecemeal, etc?

i like the game so far. The gameplay is alot slower this year so now a RB with less than 95 speed isn't useless. The only big new feature is the teambuiler feature, Road to Glory is the exact same thing as campus legend just a different name. The big improvement though came in all the little details. Tackling and catching animations are a lot more realistic though and thats the biggest improvement.
From a Husker view I think EA did a very good job. Suh is a beast in the game and so is McNeil. I can run the ball pretty well when I play with Nebraska.
for the rosters, I think EA released new rosters, but I heard they weren't perfect either. I'm waiting for user to come out with a fixed and fully named roster. Which I heard could be out by the end of the week.

I agree with a majority of this post. The passing is a bit faster, making it harder to play pass defense on short passes. Suh is absolutely a monster; you can actually get a pass rush with the DTs this year. Hopefully someone gets fully named rosters online this weekend, so I can start my dynasty. Until then, I'm going to be running with they Teambuilder version of the 1995 Cornhuskers I made (check out CDS923 if you want to see it).

This is going to be the first year ever that I don't buy the NCAA game.
I have a PS2 and quite frankly the past four to five years it's been the exact same game. The same stupid glitches, idiotic human controlled defensive AI, same plays-both offensively and defensively, etc.

I need a playbook to use with them. I'm starting off with Air Force, which has a lot of option in it, but I've also tried out the Run Balanced book. Any suggestions?

Always build your own, Airforce is a great one to start with, but don't be afraid to mix in some other Os. Also Ga Tech would have a good power game and triple option, there is one other option team, maybe its the balanced run that still runs wings, marylin I etc. Its fun to run, but a b*tch to recruit WRs.

The create-a-playbook option has been taken out of the next-gen versions of all NCAA games since this generation of consoles came out

I'm really beginning to think that Nebraska got the shaft for default rosters in this game. Our DBs are terrible at coverage, our DEs are slow as molasses and our OL can't block to save their lives. EA really needs to come out with a patch so that their updated roster file is the default when playing online, rather than the roster that shipped with the game. It's really ruining the entire online aspect of the game.

I think run balanced/Air Force are probably the two best play books. I think Georgia Tech is all wish/flexbone aren't they? So thats not really accurate. I really liked AF because they have IForm, ace, some flexbone, and a few shotgun plays.

Anyone interested in starting an online league with either NCAA 09 or Madden 09? PM me or something and we can exchange user names and get something setup! The more the merrier.
