That's too bad.  From the limited looks from him, I thought he could be a very solid contributor down the road.

i'd bet his idea of how much he should be playing and the reality of things is pretty different. i liked him, but thought he really should've redshirted. doc gave him and gallegos their own fate. i could see gallegos deciding to play, but i thought there was no way coleman would. i think him not RSing really spoke volumes about the situation. maybe he'll pull an okafor.

We have got to stabalize this roster.  We have a team that eventually could play in some NCAA's, but if we keep the revolving door spinning, it's going to keep hurting us.  We need to keep the core, develop chemistry, and gain experience.  Throwing in a bunch of new players every year without significantly increasing your talent won't do you much good.  I'm a realist, I expect a high turnover for a couple of years after a coaching change.  I also fully expect a player to transfer or quit every year, happens in every college basketball program.  We can't have 4, 5, 6 new bodies every year though if we want to get to where we want to be.

That said, this isn't a huge loss.  Nor was it the player whom I thought it would be.  I don't think anyone really knows the story.  My theory is he wasn't going to get the playing time he thought he deserved and decided that this would be the perfect time to get out.  He's not going to beat out Gallegos or Richardson anytime soon.  In fact, I don't think he even had a chance to beat out Drake next year.  That's not to say he was a bad player at all, he's just a freshman.  I hope he finds a good program and does well.  He wasn't a bad kid at all.

The bad news is that there will probably be another one.  Maybe in the next couple of weeks, maybe at the end of the season.  We have a lot of kids and not a lot of minutes.  If you're Doc, you gotta go out and get the best PG or SG that you can find.
