What spurred that decision?

Do volleyball players lose a year of eligibility like football players?

I'm guessing it is just like fball.  But I also heard that it is something to do with academics and UCLA not offering what she wants or needs so she might be elgible next year with their release.Stay tuned.

what makes me think there is more to it then academics is wouldn't she have made sure ucla offered what she wanted before going there?  maybe she changed her major I guess.  Maybe she just got homesick.  either way it's awesome news!

When Lauren was in high school she didn't even consider Nebraska, and we didn't pursue her.  It was one of those things that she desided that she didn't want to play for her dad and Coach respected that.   She has, apparently, changed her mind.

As for her eligebility, it all depends on UCLA.  If they release her free and clear she can play next year.  If they choose not to she can still come, but she'd have to sit out the '10 season, and she can still redshirt.  It she is elegible to play it'll be interesting to see how we do things at setter.  Lauren was the National Freshman of the Year, however we return Sydney Anderson, who was a 3rd Team All-American this year, after being a 2nd teamer last year.

Alot of what happens will depend on what (coach) Cook desides to do with the offense.  In an article in the World Hearld, he mentioned that we may have to go to a two setter system, the 6-2 attack.  That's what we ran in '04 with Dani Busboom and Maggie Griffin as setters.  We'd do that to get another attacker on the court.  If we run that system, we'd play both Cook and Anderson.  If we remain in the 5-1 set it make more sense to have Cook redshirt and play the senior Sydney Anderson with true frosh Kristen Kelsay backing her up.
