Thought I'd start a consolidated thread regarding the Big Ten Network so we could share what we know, and ask what we don't.

Directv: Available nationwide to anyone on the "choice" plan or higher.

DISH network: Available nationwide to anyone with the "120+" plan or higher
-  INCLUDED for anyone in the "Big Ten footprint" (Probably won't be considered "footprint in NE until next year)
-  $7 /mo Mutli-Sport Package if you live outside the footprint

Cable:   TWC: Not yet, but I think the pressure is on for sooner rather than later.
Cox: Currently available on the Sports package
               Charter: ?
               Other: ?

In past years, ESPN Regional Television, the Conference's syndication outlet, had first pick of the remaining football and men's basketball games. I have Cox Digital in Omaha. Channel 233 I believe is the regular channel and there is of  course a digital channel too. Funny thing in the onscreen guide is the channel name is BIGIOWA.

Up here in Minnesota when they launched the Big Ten Network, t was quite sonme time before Comcast and the other cable companies came to agreement on price/fees. It was NOT in place at the start of the football season that year. Perhaps now that it is proven they'll move more quickly.

Just signed up for the BIG TEN network in southeast Arizona through Cox Communications. Picked up the sports package and this also included the High Def channels.

Time Warner in Lincoln better pick this up....

if they don't, they'll be losing at least one subscriber (and I can imagine thousands more).

I believe every team has a local network, I assume BIGNEB will be up and running by July 2011.

I don't think there's any worries for Nebraskans;  the cable companies see the writing on the wall and will negotiate with BTN to get the network up (hopefully by 2011 - suicide if they don't).  For those with cable elsewhere that are outside of the 'footprint' I think some serious collaborative  lobbying or else a switch to a satellite dish will be in order.

If your local cable provider does not currently offer the Big Ten Network, you can "request" it through the Big Ten website that Xan99 provided above.  Just go through the finder by zip code and once it tells you that your local provider does not carry it, you can click on "request it now".  An email will be sent on your behalf to your provider requesting that they include it.  You can customize the email by indicating what school you are a fan of and why you would like it to be added.  I don't know if it will make a difference or not but it may speed up the process.

Awesome!  I just asked for it in Lincoln (I have no doubt we'll pick it up, though)!  Smiley

Good find, I didn't know that.  Anyone that has ever found themselves at the other end of a form letter can tell you, the more personal you can make it the better. Tell them you're a fan, it's important to you, you want the channels, and who you'll take your business to in order to get it.

did that to ask for charter to get it in Kearney.  I'm sure they'll jump right on that and add it to the lineup in a matter of weeks....  @#$%^ charter.   Angry

Huskers overseas don't fret! check this out! http://www.bigtenticket.com/   from what I've read you won't get the games that ESPN/ABC pick up, but the other games can be streamed to your PC, pretty cool.

Personally I'm looking forward to our OOC games being on BTN, no more PPV!  Ok, it might cost some of us (like me) out of the footprint to get BTN to go to DTV or DISH with the sports tier, but not $30 per game like it does right now.

During football season though the channels open up and there's about 6 Big !0 network channels to show all the games.   Wink

I have Qwest in Omaha, and they haven't added any channels for years, and I doubt they're going to add this. But I'll be damned if I'm switching to Cox and ordering a sports package to get it, I'll just go over to someone else's house who has it when NU is on.
