This is only going to help the basketball team get to that next level.  Their non-conference schedule is better than I've seen it in a while as well.  They'll now where they stand and what type of player they have to recruit.

I really like our non-conference schedule this year, that will make our schedule harder than usual alone.

As far as the Big 10 goes, I'm not all that scared.  There are no Kevin Durants, Blake Griffins, or  Michael Beasleys in the Big 10.  There aren't league bottom feeders rolling with legitimate NBA players every year.  I've said it before, it's a different type of conference.  It's more of a devensive/team ball type of conference, not really a breeding ground for freak athletes and NBA players (or at least not on the same level anyway).  I'm not bashing Big 10 basketball as I still think it's a very good basketball league, I'm just saying that the two conferences are different.

I think this is the type of conference Nebraska basketball **could** compete better in.  Maybe there are less NBA players, especially at the bottom of the league which will help us.  We will still get beat up by the really good teams in the league until we get better players, nothing will change there.  I'm simply saying that there's nothing to be scared about, we can compete with the middle of that league with our current team.

I don't want to come across as a snot about Big 10 basketball, it's just a different brand.  I don't think we will have all the pressure to put up 65-70+ points to have a chance to win.  There will be a ton of Big 10 games that we will be in a defensive, low scoring battle.  Make no mistake about it though, we aren't going to be a consistent NCAA Tourney team in this conference (just like the Big 12) until we recruit better.

Anyway, what does everyone thing about our offense this year?  What kind of difference will Spencer and Talley make?  I hear they are legit.

i was thinking about that today. we play the "big boys" in OSU and MSU and wisconsin. but who the hell plays for them? definitely won't be nearly as fun watching big 10 teams come through this year. how many nba studs did we get to see play in devaney the last decade? i'll still get tickets and hit all the games i can, but it'll just be a different experience.

The Big 10 seems to get at least 1 team into the Final Four on a yearly basis.  The Big 12 does when it's KU otherwise not very often.  My point....I feel this conference is a much better basketball conference than the Big 12 is. JMO.

There may be less NBA-level talent, but the Big 10 game is a much more team-oriented game. Plus, the level of coaching is leagues above what the Big XII has to offer. I think it's going to be much tougher overall than the Big XII was.

I'll buy that, Cdog.  I think the coaching is a little better in the Big 10.  Nebraska was able to hang in there against some elite Big 12 teams at times because of Doc's schemes.

Different conference, same dance, huh?   Embarrassed  I'm so used to being picked at the bottom that it doesn't even phase me anymore.  I could care less about some Big 12 or Big 10 media hacks opinions before a single game has even been played.

We aren't going to finish 11th or 12th, I would put up a large sum of money on that.  If for some reason we do, then it's time for Doc to go.  At some point, we need results.

A little early for an I told you so post. We still have 3 of our easiest games left on the schedule. Having said that, we need to win a couple of those or else I think it might be time to start fresh with all new staff and facilities.
