That game was a joke. Should have went down to the wire but didn't which was unfortunate. The game should be decided on the court by the players. I'm not really upset though, had it went down to the wire we would have lost anyway due to poor end-of-game offensive management.
Creighton has the chance to be a pretty good team. McDermott is really good obviously, but if you shut him down, Creighton becomes very average. Nebraska had the athletes to lock him up but I guess it just wasn't in the game plan. Go figure. Creighton will run into trouble when good teams lock athletes on him. If they had another good player, say a Nate Funk type, playing along side McDermott, they could make a Sweet 16 run, no doubt about it. McDermott is fun to watch though, good player.
Nebraska has to keep working. I still think this team can do some good things, gotta stick with it though. As far as a coaching change, not sure yet. We have to see this season play out first. We added some new players, it's going to take a bit to gel. At the end of the day though, we probably aren't going to make the NCAA Tourney. At that point, I think you have to seriously consider it. Year 6 with the same problems? Umm...yeah, you have to consider it.
Solid post and good analysis. I'd hate to see Doc leave and am not sure who you replace him with who's better. But at some point you either can get the job done or you can't...and he hasn't yet.

As I was watching the game, I kept wondering what it would have been like having Standhardinger in Ubel's spot. He definitely would have scored a lot more than Ubel. If Nebraska had Christian and Bo, they'd have a nice one-two punch. Doc's infatuation with Brandon Ubel set the team back in my opinion.

I was at the game and I was a little surprised at how UNL was able to slow the tempo as well and as long as they did, frankly, it was the worst Creighton looked all year. Nebraska has the ability to make a team look ugly, that's a tribute to their defense and clogging of the passing lanes. looks kinda like Southern Illinois with all the reaching and grabbing. The game turned on the series of T's and should have gone down to the end. Bo is a good athlete and they would look much differant without him. Will be interesting to see how the NU men in the middle hold up to B10 play. Agree that NU can do some good things this year but it wont be pretty to watch. Looking forward to the rest of the CU season. Omaha.com has the post game interviews.

What a weird game. I still don't understand the T on Mccray. What on earth was Doc thinking? I thought Ubel played good D on Mcdermott at points. Young and Mcdermott make that a team that can go places. Without Mcdermott, they are pedestrian, he just makes plays. I think where they run into problems is if they play someone with some length, a Baylor type.
Richardson needs to step up! He had a few good plays, but disappears for way too long. Mccray doesn't play smart like a senior should. Just a bit frustrated at this point. But what would Nebraska basketball be without that?

Last thoughts. Justice is an absolute joke. How does he still have a job in broadcasting? He stumbled over words and would say some insanely crazy things. "The Century Link Center, one of the toughest places to play in America". That happened. Nick Bahe is good, and he's only geting better. There were times he was yelling at us instead of talking, but he did well.
The beginning was very difficult to watch. I understand trying to take charges and all, but the flopping on Creightons part was kind of sickening. I liked watching them a lot more when they manned up and played good D instead of flopping the whole time. They are capable of very good D instead of being gimmicky.

The Creighton media is out of control. How does Justice have a job? lol I don't know. He's bad though. Matt Perrault pretty much took over a respectable message board website and turned it into a rivals money board in which he adds poorly written "inside" information from time to time. Nick Bahe though I like. I shouldn't like him, but I do. I respect talent, and Bahe does have some talent.
I realize Creighton is a mid-major, but they need to find a way to get the few Bluejay games that are worthy of television coverage in HD.

The only thing I can think about Justice is he must work cheap for KMTV and that seems like a weird relationship as well considering he doesn't work for them anymore. one would have to blame the lack of hd on the expense of it, what else would kmtv be able to use it for? I did record it but have not seen the broadcast yet. interesting. like Bahe, like his radio show as well but it is a very light hearted look at the sports world.
Creighton media? do these guys pull a paycheck from CU? I dont think Creighton has any except for Bluejay banter on 590 once a week and their radio play by play crew. Bahe does do color on the radio when not on TV.

Agreed. HD coverage is a must. You don't realize how much you take HD for granted until you watch something that's in standard def. That goes double for sporting events.

kmtv wasn't even up to standard def. i'm not sure if it has to do with the lighting in there or the camera placement or what. but if there's a creighton game on kmtv - even one i'm interested in - i can't watch it. it looks like someone smeared vaseline on their lens.
as for the game, the "turning point" was a joke. enough about that. i know some people were hard on ubel, but mcdermott didn't get hot til ubel went out and mccray guarded him. just what you want out of your fifth year senior... i think i've had enough of mccray. he might get you some points. but he'll definitely get you some turnovers. you won't get any defense. you'll get some terrible shots. and there's a good chance you might get a T out of it. the one they got him for yesterday wasn't much...but is there any doubt he was flapping his gums before then? let him find some pine and give his minutes to rivers. at least you've got a chance for a future there.
spencer, again, is a hell of a player when he takes good shots. looks like that's how he is. there's no in between. he's either shooting 55% or 25%. maybe he'll level out, but til then it looks like the bo-llercoaster.
diaz got handled down low. doesn't portend good things for the big ten. maybe it was just an off night. everything seemed to come up short on his jump hook. might have just been one night, or he really might not have that range when he gets pushed out a few feet. he made some nice plays on misses to get around echinque, so it wasn't a total loss. i'll bank on an off day, because i've already put my money down on the diaz horse. god help me.
one last thing. listening to justice and bahe, i don't know how the voters will decide on a national player of the year between gibbs and mcdermott. jeez, they were pretty damn high on gibbs, who i didn't really think looked that great. especially when the opposing PG is torching you for 29. mcdermott, obviously, is a fun player to watch. you can tell he's got a scorer's mentality out there. beautiful stroke.

We kind of got a kick out of the standard def. The bad graphics and standard def. made it look like a bad early 90's basketball video game.
