Wow. That is surprising. I remember reading several years ago that the founder, Jerry Falwell, wanted Liberty to become a big-time player in college football before he passed away. I think he is dead now, isn't he? If so, is the school still looking to eventually move up to the big time, or are they happy in a lower division?
As an aside....I had a friend who attended Liberty for one year. He left when he realized his sense of humor was not appreciated there. For example, a guy walked up to his lunch table and asked "Is that chair saved." My friend replied...."Saved? No, it's not even under conviction yet."
Just a little Christian humor there......

Someone on here said Gill had to sit out a year to get his $6mill payout from KU. Is that not the case?

Yes if he coached at an FBS school he would've lost out on the $6 million. Not so for D1AA or FCS.
Good thing because he's not going to get paid a lot at Liberty.

He'll probably be getting around $300k a year unless Liberty has decided to be more competitive.

This may turn out to be a great environment for Turner--football and spiritually. Wish him the best.

I hope so. He seems like a good coach and a great man. And he got a raw deal at Kansas. So hopefully it's a good fit for him.
