LSU is, I think, guaranteed a national championship.  If they win they win it all outright.  But if they lose, and the game is close-- like it was on Nov 3rd, the Tigers can point to their win back in the regular season and say they deserve at least a share of the title.

The way I see it LSU has no downside whatsoever.

I agree that might be what should happen. But if Alabama wins, I think they're awarded the national title outright. The rematch game, fairly or not, will be seen as the national title game and the winner will win the national title. In that scenario, I think LSU gets some votes, but I doubt they would get enough to split the national title.

This whole situation is pretty ridiculous.

If Alabama wins - and I expect them to by 10-14 points - they will rightly be named NC.

No matter the score even the BCS isn't dumb enough to award a championship trophy to a team that lost the Championship game.

No kidding. The only thing worse would be to award the player of the game trophy to a guy that got ejected..... Huh

LSU, if they do in fact lose, would still be 1-1 against Alabama this season and a case could be made for a split title.

It is more upsetting that USC will be awarded another NC from this season...
