Agreed. I like Doc alot, and really, really wish that Doc would have succeeded. But just like that girlfriend that you like alot but were never in love with, sometimes things just don't work out.

I wish Doc the best wherever he ends up.

Watching that was brutal. I have nevet seen a firing like this at Nebraska.

I think Doc is a good guy, but he just couldn't get the job done.  Not sure who will, but I hope we can find someone...

Agreed...watching someone you have such affection and respect for get so choked up like that was really rough. I'll be rooting for Doc to get another shot as a head coach and to be incredibly successful there.

I still think they should have ousted that smug p**k Boehm and gave Doc his job? Seriously, why is he still here? Also, why would an A.D. say that he didn't know if.we could get an established coach? What kind of A.D. says this right before a coaching search. I have a feeling this is going to end badly for us.

And yeah, that was a hard press conference to watch. Give Doc credit for actually showing up to the press conference. He didn't really need to do that.

I understand what you are saying.  UNK but whether we like it or not Men's basketball isn't a priority at NU.  We will find out shortly how serious the AD is about Mens basketball by who they hire as their new coach.  If it's a name coach then we know.  If it's another Mid major coach whom they'll pay a relatively cheap $1 Mill to then we know they aren't serious.

Doc was/is pure class.  Great guy, and he gave it his all.  I wish him the best in the future, and I'm sure he'll find a job somewhere.  I hope he does well.

Also, they let Doc talk at his own firing press conference?  When has that ever happened?!  EVER?  I'm not talking, "forced to resign", I'm talking fired.

That just shows the class of TO and the AD.  TO really didn't want to fire him but the results and waning fan interest just weren't there.  They better have a big name in mind otherwise firing Doc will be looked at as a colossal screw up.

I really like Doc too, but let's be honest, we can like him because we are apathetic about hoops. If Doc had the same win percentage as football coach, there would be a mob chasing him out of town. I hope he lands on his feet. Good guy.

Doc is a great guy and it's too bad it didn't work out....he's a class act and easy to like.  If he would have had an ace recruiter things could have been different but that's water under the bridge now.  Hopefully we hire someone who is saavy enough on the recruiting trail that he can use our new toys and bring in some respectable talent.  If Doc ever could have gotten a good scoring wing......sigh.

Why is doing the right things so hard sometimes? There will be no joy in mudville for a little while. Class all the way around as far as I'm concerned. Now we need a coach that can get it done.....it isn't going to be easy....lots of money or no.
