Again, this is a realistic coaching candidates thread. Shaka Smart is not a realistic coaching candidate at Nebraska. Yes, you ask him, but I'm much more likely to be HC here than Smart is.

NU needs a Hoiberg. A pretty good player or similar experience, able to connect with the players, walk the walk, a natural leader and smart decision maker. Somebody whose passion for the program would help to overcome shortcomings of the program (aka priorities, facilities etc).

New digs will help, but to answer the question:

#1 they are in Lincoln

#2 where there is zero history of success

Pollard hit a home run...just took 2 years for most of the country to realize it.  Doubt they will beat Kentucky, but they just did what NU has not been able to do...EVER...in the Mayor's second season as a HC at any level.

Hoiberg is a smart cat and learned from a number of great coaches.  He hired great recruiters.

Does anyone think the search might be made more difficult by the assumption that TO probably won't be the AD through the initial contract period, and there is no succession plan?

It just occurred to me that a serious rebuilder would want some sense of security about having the support of his AD long enough to get the job done.

Make no mistake....there is a succession plan.  Osborne just doesn't care to share it with anybody.  He's not stupid.

Really?  Hold on to that loser mentality and see where it gets you...

The tools are now in place.  We just need someone who can change the culture and perception of NU hoops.  When Bill Self was at Tulsa, he seemed like that kind of guy to me but unfortunately we couldn't lure him here.  I think Marshall or Groce could do that.

Really? I hope we didn't fire a guy for 3+ million only to replace him with someone else mediocre. At least we knew the character of our mediocre coach and everyone liked the guy. TO can't have spent that much money to get another .500 coach that could be a child molester. Hopefully he did his homework and knows that he either can get a better, established coach than Sadler or at least a guy who can bring in a large talent upgrade. This better not end up like the football coach search where we ended up with BC (Haha, I initially typed BS and for some reason fixed it).
