What a weird day after such a normal one yesterday. I almost wish I wouldn't have been golfing during the Missouri loss.

Golfing?  During the first round of the NCAA Tourney?  Woah!  Then again, the weather is fantastic.

Groce and Ohio.  Need I say more?

Duke lost.  That's a shocker.  I'm not sure Duke had a shot at a title this year, but Mizzou did.  Both out in one day?  Wow!

The Duke loss puts Baylor in a very, very good position.

I still got Kentucky though.  I will win A TON of money if they win.  If Baylor beat them, I might be just slightly less pissed.  Smiley

I'm a golf major, so I did it the last two days! If we can take a run at Groce, that'd be huge.

F Mizzou!

That was awesome....finally a good upset and couldn't happen to a better team.  Nevermind, Syracuse would have been sweeter, but I'll take it.

that WAS awesome.  but the best team for it to happen to would be Duke.  and don't look now but lehigh is hanging around!!!  Cheesy

Ohio is doing nice too....wouldn't mind having that guy patrolling our sidelines  Wink

Is Osborne had a brain, Groce would be our next coach.  I hope Osborne has one....or at least has something better in store.

Ohio looks very much like a Big 10 team in style.  VCU reminds me of Nolan Richardson's Razorbacks in style (minus having a great scorer like Todd Day).  It's be interesting if both coaches were at Big 10 institutions next season.

Dang!  Mizzou,Duke, and Meatchicken just blew up my bracket.  As long as Kentucky and Carolina make it to the title game I should be good though.   Smiley

I knew after the first day my bracket would be in the shredder. It's like that every year.

Nobody is really bashing Creighton in this thread.  This is about the NCAA Tourney and Creighton did not look that great so there was a comment on it.

This is a Nebraska board.  If you want to troll, go to the Creighton is winning the national title thread and talk about whatever you want, I won't stop you.

If you can't handle that, than go away.

Considering what we know about 'Bama's defense I think CU's deserves some credit for the win. What 'Bama does is make teams not look great. Most thought if the game was kept in the 50's 'Bama would win the game.

PS. When mods say things like what is in bold in your quote Admins get messages. Just sayin.

Mizzou got beat by a better team, no luck involved.

So?  Take my Mod status away then.  I've seen Mods say far worse things than that in the Third Rail and Diehard forums. Those who want to troll and fight with Nebraska fans, they have a thread they can do that in now.  That way every thread doesn't get turned into a fight.  I think that's more than fair considering this is a Nebraska basketball forum and Creighton is a rival.

I'm glad Mizzou lost, that's for sure.  Do you really believe that Norfolk State is a Top 10 basketball team?

It's difficult to reconcile you claiming that Creighton fans are trolls looking for a fight when you're the one who so consistently brings Creighton up and then bags on them relentlessly. If you honestly don't want to talk about Creighton, then you sure have an odd way of showing it.

I believe the gap between all of these teams is not as great as you think. these are not really upsets, were they to have the opportunity to play in the regular season there would be as many wins for non bcs schools as there are in the dance. its about match ups, not conference power.

I was not looking to pick a fight or troll.  Looking back on the posts it seems others were more than willing to deride Creighton for would seem to be a wet dream for NU hoops.  Yes, I financially support both programs, let's be honest though:  Creighton and NU are not rivals either, by any stretch.

Look at NU:

Flagship University for the State
Big Ten Conference Member
35,000+ Students
$30 Million in profit for their Athletic Department
National Brand
New practice facility that is repeatedly mentioned as top 5 in the Nation
New arena on the horizon

And Creighton:

Private Catholic University with markedly higher admission standards
MVC Conference
6,000+ Students
Athletic Department is largely funded by private donations, i.e. The Jaybackers (no football to help pay bills)
Nice practice facility that is within 5 years old, nothing over the top
Century Link is now almost 10 years old, although beer sales help keep attendance consistently above 15,000+

Tell me again about Creighton's advantages?  Tell me again how they are NU's rival?

Don't get me wrong, Creighton will never have greater than a 5% chance to win a title in basketball.  As i said before, this year Creighton was second in conference regular season, won their conference tournament, had the MVP and Defensive players of the year on the squad and Doug is also a first team all american.  And in their peer group - the MVC- that gets them and 8 seed and a date with UNC.  Which if they win will be the biggest victory in program history, unless they go all the way - that ain't going to happen.  Again, Creighton's program defining moment would be a Sweet 16 birth by beating UNC.

NU, which lives in the Big Ten, if it had the same type of year, second in conference, win the conference tournament POY and D POY, first team all american, they would be either a 1 or 2 seed with them being an odds on Final Four favorite.

Like it or not, NU is in the big boys club, start acting like it.  Go hire a real coach who can recruit and build a Final Four program.  Baseball did it, women's BB is doing it, Volleyball has done it, Track, gymnastics, wrestling all have competed at the highest levels.

NU SHOULD beat Creighton by 30+ every year when they play.  They SHOULD be in the dance as a 4 seed or higher every year.  What was the baseball culture before Van Horn arrived?  And yes, he was a lower division coach, I know that.  Van Horn had the attitude of a WINNER.  Not the meek, aw shucks attitude most people on this board have of, well MAYBE we can get Groce or Spinelli or Montana's coach because, well, we just have never won anything so, why TRY and get a real coach.  Why TRY and win, Why TRY and build a real program.

When the school and city of LIncoln together commit $200 Million plus to capital expenditures for facility improvement, your coach's salary should be at least equal to 1% of it dont you?

Bring in a real coach to change the culture, obviously it will not happen internally.
