Kiser pops out to 3rd, Huskers blew this one.  Left at least 10 on base.

Really bad loss, and we really blew it.  Couldn't capitalize on anything.  Ouch.

Sucks that we spanked them for three games then couldn't get the sweep. Puts a slight damper on the weekend.

Just puts more pressure on the team to win the conference tournament.  But at least there are no more four-game series for a while (I think the CSU-Whatevertown series late in the year might be, too lazy to check).

I hope the kids can change this lack of killer instinct. I've noticed this in Bo's football teams as well. The kids are having trouble learning to smell blood. Bo and Darin both seem to have it, so it's just a matter of time until they instill it in their teams.....I hope.

I think this one has more to do with the sport. Sure these guys are still learning to win, but I think its more to do with in baseball, even the best team can't win every game. Blown games happen from time to time to even the very best, so its only natural for it to happen for a less talented squad.

The team instinctually killed the **** out of them the first three games.  You get into a 4th game and some weird stuff can, and did, happen.

These guys have actually had a pretty good "killer instinct" outside of the first weekend.  We've come from behind late in the game a few times, and have managed to close out others.

When you guys are right, you're right Wink. A moment of frustration clouded  my perception of the team in general. Please understand though, I'm not referring to coming from behind (which the guys did today btw) but rather leaving runners on and up in the count and letting a cornered foe get away. 3-1 in a four game series......I have to learn when complain......and when to bite my tongue.

Yeah, today we really screwed up with runners on, no doubt about it.  The one base running error really cost us, but so did loading the bases in the third with two outs, and grounding into a double play.  Yikes.

Like I said, this is a really bad loss to a really bad team, BUT so far this year, games like today have been the exception, rather than the rule (outside of the first weekend of the season)

At any rate, this team is better than any that Mike Anderson put out the last three seasons.

The attitude is better. The energy is better.....and I'm much more optimistic. It's a long season however, and the boys of summer (er..... spring) need to keep digging.

BTW, I had a long talk with a player yesterday who played under Anderson. He didn't dislike him as much as some others I could tell about, but he's really high on the new staff (he played with Bolt). He had very little doubt that  Osborne DID NOT settle on his new hire. As intense as Van Horn as he put it.

I am probably too quick to blindly defend the team.  Your concerns are definitely valid given the last 3 seasons, we don't know if this staff is up to the task yet.  I'm enjoying the games for the first time in a few years, though, because so far they (the coaches) have done a few little things within games to give us some hope.
