Some interesting thoughts....... on both sides. The question isn't about revenue, I think we all agree that it would bring in bucks,  and I think we all agree that it would be fun for the fans. The question seems to be.......Will our team be better prepared next fall when the real war begins? I say the best way to build depth is to get the depth experience, and preparing for another opponent doesn't seem to be the best way to do that imo.

BTW, if you're craving some some NU athletic competition against another opponent to light your fire, there's a scrappy little baseball team across the street that would love to entertain you. Just be prepared....they're still finding their way and there might be some heartache along the way.

It would quickly turn from a practice into a competitive game, thus negating the whole purpose.

But the spring game isn't the only scrimmage we can have.  Nothing would stop us from having all the scrimmages we want.  Add a couple of more practices to the spring and hold the exhibition game a week later.

I'll be at the game tomorrow.  And I and my family are sure to have a great time.  But it would sure help me get my Husker football fix if we were actually matched up against another team.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to get from January to September without a true Husker football fix!?!  And after all, it is all about my needs, isn't it?   Cheesy

The thing is, once it turns competitive, that's when jobs and incentives come into play. That's when ticket prices get jacked up.

I completely understand your point; I'm a competitive person at heart. If we're going scrimmage against other teams, they need to be closed door, controlled types of settings to avoid them getting out of control.

Not positive, but I believe the number of practices is regulated by NCAA, thus we couldn't have "all the scrimmages we want."

My family and I will be there tomorrow also (rain or shine) for the 15th year.  We enjoy going.  I preferred the Red-White game when it was a more competitive game between the 1 offense/2 defense vs 2 offense/1 defense.  However, I think a scrimmage with another school would quickly turn into a situation that we would rather not have...another game.  Although another game sounds like it would be great, I don't think it would be for the best.

Yes, it is regulated by the NCAA.  But I meant that the NCAA would have to allow the changes for everyone in order to do it.

The battles we go through life
We ask for a chance that's fair
A chance to equal our stride
A chance to do or dare
If we should win, let it be by the code
Faith and Honor held high
If we should lose, we'll stand by the road
And cheer as the winners go by
Day by day, we get better and better.
