After reading all this stuff...I'm getting tingly all over Grin. I have a baseball season to get through first but I just can't wait to see what happens this fall.

We are n a very fast team if Marlowe is the 2nd fastest on the team. I am going with Fischer's statements rather than a roomate of Marlowe. He looks quick enough to be among the fastest in the 10 yard dash, but not the 40. I would say the same thing about Abdullah. Aaron Green looks pretty fast on the wheel route. Turner looks to have more elusiveness than speed. I hope that Evans, Bell, Heard, Green, and Seisay are among the faster players. You need speed at CB. I want to hear who Marlowe thinks is cast on defense!

Solly is just trying to make an argument that a player that knows his job and gives good effort can move ahead of players with "more upside" where is Khiry Cooper, Gillyenski, And S Osborne? Marlowe will be our #3 WR ahead of Turner and Tariq Allen ( who apparently is behind a couple of walkons based on coaches interviews)

I for one was NOT impressed by Turner when I watched a practice last spring.   I really don't understand the fan hype surrounding him.   Not saying he won't be a good player, but he was too slight to be an every down receiver and had questionable hands.  Add in his work ethic issues last fall and that's why he was on the pine...for good reason.  Yeah, he may give you a lot of upside, but there was downside last year especially.  I hope he's turned a corner this spring.

I liked how he caught a couple of passes in the flat vs. WI.  He then juked left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right and the fell forward for the first down that was half a yard in front of where he originally caught the ball.

You're incorrect.

Go to North Stadium, take the tour, and look at the posted times.

Exactly my point. Marlowe keeping working while other guys pass thru the system without playing. Gillynski looked pretty good the first 4 games of his soph season then disappeared, and same with Cooper.

Same me the trip, am I wrong about the 10 yd time or the 40 yd time?

He's among the fastest in both, as well as the Pro Agility Run.

(But the tour is terrific, and well worth the trip!)

That is funny, Turner is elusive, but he does need to be a bit more north and south.  I think he will do much better this year, but we seem to have a lot of depth at WR.  I would like to see him run the wildcat QB though.  I've made the argument why, b/c Taylor is a  decent runner, but Turner definitely has more wiggle than TM.

I have always believed and often said that Marlow was very good and does not get near the respect from Husker fans that he deserves.  I have no idea why.  I guess maybe because he wasn't a 12-star Hype Magnet coming out of High School.

Am I missing something?  What respect does he deserve that he isn't getting?  He's the third option, at best, on a very mediocre receiving corps.  How many catches did he have last year?  How many TD catches?  How many great ... or even good ... yac's did he have?  Right now none of the WR's has earned a whole lot of respect imo.

Get open. Catch the ball.  Move the ball forward.  Do that more than a handful of times and those players will get the respect they deserve.

Or perhaps his stats for the past two years don't warrant a megaphone of hyperbole.  Marlowe, 2010.  No catches, 2 rushing attempts for 14 yards.  Marlowe, 2011.  7 rushing attempts for 77 yards.  12 receptions for 113 yards.  1 TD.  He played in 27 games... started 2.

Not sure how those stats over two years correspond to "very good."  Other than you have a different definition of very good than a lot of other people.  Glad to hear he's a team leader, and good team mate, understands the game well enough to earn comments about being "coach-like."  Is he a great receiver at this level of college football?

No, he isn't.

FWIW, the main focus on those statements when I've made them (and stand by them) have been as a return guy.

Football isn't baseball.  The value and quality of a player isn't just a product of stats.  And I never said he was a superstar.  But I do believe he is a quality football player who deserves more respect than being held up as an example of how bad our talent level is.
