He is a journey man and not a game breaker.

Absolutely correct.  And he has produced more than some other more highly touted recruits.  My take is....just let the guy be.  He is not a superstar.  He is not a bust.  He is an average D1 player.

Nothing wrong with that.

Right now none of the WR's has earned a whole lot of respect imo.

Pretty much my feeling as well. The entire receiving corps hasn't shown many signs of life in a few years now... Embarrassed

I had to ref Bell and Marlowe this year in basketball. Both extremely fast (and very whiny) but Bell seemed to have more agility while Marlowe mostly went north and south with very little shake.
Now that is good dope straight from the inside~  thanks! (though, as I recall from college intramurals, "whiny" was how the refs described my competitiveness!  LOL)

Bell should have been T'd up, but he had 3 fouls in the first half and they didn't have any subs. He was lethal taking it to the hoop, but usually settled for outside jumpers. After complaining a lot early, Marlowe did a pretty decent job of controlling himself and trying to settle Bell down at times. He of course would get ticked at calls or no calls and begin to say something, but would pull himself back. He eventually told Bell to quit whining because it wouldn't do any good. In the end, I think he remembered they were playing for a T Shirt, which a lot of the people couldn't get through their heads.

FWIW, the main focus on those statements when I've made them (and stand by them) have been as a return guy.

Football isn't baseball.  The value and quality of a player isn't just a product of stats.  And I never said he was a superstar.  But I do believe he is a quality football player who deserves more respect than being held up as an example of how bad our talent level is.

Stats... are stats.  And in any sport, they mean something.  I pointed out Marlowe is a good team mate, has a good work ethic, has a mind for the game.

I don't care if we're playing for a T-shirt, lunch, to keep the court, or just for bragging rights, I'd elbow my grandmother in the face if she was between me and the game-winning layup.  Some guys are just intensely competitive.  I'm glad to hear two of our WRs are built that way.  Refs might not like it, but I do.

that's what I was thinking.  like Herm Edwards says: "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME"   I have a saying I'm not sure if I made up or heard somewhere:  Any game worth playing is a game worth winning.

He looks quick enough to be among the fastest in the 10 yard dash, but not the 40.

You're incorrect.

Go to North Stadium, take the tour, and look at the posted times.

Same me the trip, am I wrong about the 10 yd time or the 40 yd time?

He's among the fastest in both, as well as the Pro Agility Run.

(But the tour is terrific, and well worth the trip!)

Thanks for the clarification. IT just goes to show you that jukes make a guy look faster than he really is. Watch Abdullah on his long kick returns, as guys are gaining on him. He definetely is not that fast in a 60 yard dash. I think Green and Heard would be faster in any distance more than 40 yards.

Huge difference between being competitive and being a d-bag. You are being reffed by your peers, not Big Ten Refs.

Absolutely Bowz.  And Jordan isn't for CA nor is he Hispanic.  I mean I just think this guy is perfect for us.  A good possession receiver who will move the chains with regularity.  He will get open!  He will catch the ball!  Even Taylor won't miss him.  Forget about all the others.  Jordan Westerkamp is Da Man!  Take it to the bank.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.......back the bus up a bit there. Don't EEEVVVEEERRR undersell or underestimate the value of a Intramural Rec-League Championship Shirt. I worked my ass off for the two I have, as well as the BACK TO BACK All-University All-Sport Championship Trophies I helped to win. From the Nerd Dorm, too.  Wink

If you ask, I could probably throw a football over that mountain, too.
