Time to show Bo the respect he deserves and not buy in to this crap. Bo wants to be in Lincoln! When he succeeds here he "may" consider something bigger. He hasn't and is focused on building something here. If everyone spaz's out again because he won't comment on this opening as he hasn't others he was "associated" with in the past I may go off the deep end.

He is Nebraska's coach. Wants to be Nebraska's coach. Let's not do this crap again!

"May consider something bigger".

Ahem.

Let's not pick and choose the words we quote. How about "when he succeeds" and "may". He has no reason to leave NU and isn't anytime soon if ever. I am just saying in regards to those worrying about his name coming up today.

He admires TO and how he coached one place his entire head coaching career. We can mince words if want but at some point it has to be given a rest. He isn't associating his name with these jobs. It is those in the press. Been down this road before and really don't need to again.

I know, I'm being nitpicky Cheesy

That being said, I'd rather he stay here for a good long while.

I try to never say never......but this is an exception. Bo will not go or even consider Arkansas at this time. Some interesting names being bandied about, but I'm going to list Paul Rhoads as a dark horse for this job.

If this were not a SEC gig ,this job wouldn't be attracting too many top names imo. There is also starting to be a little backlash amongst the college fraternity towards the SEC. Sooner or later enough will be enough. When this happens the football golden conference won't look so golden. Everyone seems to think the SEC is playing dirty to beat the rest of the country. I'm of a different mind. I think the SEC programs are playing dirty simply because they are trying to keep up with each other. When the shear volume of corruption gets bad enough, coaching in the SEC won't be a status job. Imo if you have a good coaching job and feel secure then moving into the SEC at this time is not a good move.......even with the fact that the SICK conference has a monoply on national champions lately.

First off Bo is not a fit at Arkansas.  Second he is an almost perfect fit at Nebraska.  Third he is not looking, has not been looking and will not be looking to move.  Dead issue.

You summed it up pretty well SCV.  As long as TO is BO's boss, Bo won't be leaving NU anytime soon.  However on the off chance he does, then I wish him luck.

If I was an Arkansas State fan, I'd be nervous right about now.  I bet one of the first calls the Hogs make is to Gus Malzahn.

Airborne I don't think that would be a bad idea.  I'm not sure if Gus wants to cut his teeth in the SEC, but if he were starting at a program that finished in the top 10 last year wouldn't be a bad thing.

You would think after Bo's name came up for the Miami job, the Ohio State job, the Penn State job, the Florida job, the LSU job (presuming Miles had taken the Michigan job instead of Hoke), and any other job that comes up, no matter how absurd, that fans would realize that reporters only toss these names out to get hits to their websites/blogs or eyeballs to their TV shows, or ears to their radio programs.

Bo isn't leaving Nebraska.  Bo isn't on the top of anyone's list right now.  There are many coaches out there more qualified than Bo Pelini and if ADs are going to poach someone's sitting coach they're going to go after a proven winner, not a guy with potential but who hasn't won anything.

Oh Goodness, here we go again. Cue the usuals with the "Why won't he come out and say he's not interested, he loves it here, he is here forever, he wants streets named after him in Lincoln, why doesn't he buy a plot in a graveyard, etc"

NYT: Arkansas Fires Petrino, Citing ‘Misleading and Manipulative Behavior’

Quote
Nebraska’s Bo Pelini, Iowa State’s Paul Rhoads, Baylor’s Art Briles and Texas Christian’s Gary Patterson could be among the university’s top targets. Candidates with in-state ties are the former Arkansas assistants Garrick McGee and Gus Malzahn.

Not reading anything into it (you know me I am not one for conspiracies!) but it doesn't help when Bo's name is the first one mentioned on the list!

Agreed. He may love some parts of being here, and he may love TO, but he has grown weary of missing out on top recruiting targets time and time again. Recruiting will be much easier at Arkansas.

But sure, we all know that when and if he does leave, TO will get whomever is the cheapest coach possible. Prolly offer Solich $800,00 to come back. Cuz, we all know that Roy Williams and Auggie Gurrido would have come to Lincoln if TO only would have opened up the wallet a little bit  Roll Eyes

Oh wait, we are paying Miles more than Groce, and Groce never wanted anything to do with DoNU?

If he goes, then he goes.  I'm tired of hearing this crap everytime a job opening comes up.  It's funny how Stoops name isn't in the mix.  Or Hoke.  Or Miles.  Or Mr. 40 Years Old at Okie State?  Why is it everytime a job comes open at a decent to good football school... Pelini's name comes up... and the other guys don't?

I hope he stays... but this constant speculation that Pelini is in the mix is really getting old.
