Go see it. Right now. Before reading the rest of my comment. I'll wait.....
.....
Why are you still here? GO SEE IT!
....
Seriously, though, what a film. I have been waiting for The Avengers since the teaser at the end of Iron Man, and it completely delivered on 4 years of anticipation. Excellently written and directed by Joss Whedon, and the cast does an amazing job bringing their characters to life; RDJ is the perfect Tony Stark, Mark Ruffalo steals the show as The Hulk, and I though Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans looked much more comfortable in their roles as Thor and Captain America.
The only quibble I have is Cap's suit....didn't look the best, but it should be better come Cap America 2
. I really enjoyed how they managed to flesh out both Hawkeye and the Black Widow, even though they haven't had their own films like the central 4 members have.
Anyways, GO SEE IT! It will be the best film of the summer. (Yes, I am including The Dark Knight Rises in that assumption, too.) It's utterly fantastic.

Saw it yesterday, in 3D, on the big screen. A very good movie... perhaps the best superhero movie yet. Had a huge opening in the United States... over 200 million dollars in 3 days.

I saw it 3-D with my son yesterday. Fun movie! Downey absolutely makes it, but the bits of humor mixed in with all the characters was perfect. It's 2 1/2 hours of energy.

Took my youngest son to see it. Typically I'm not big on super hero movies, but this was fantastic. Now I have to actually go back and watch Iron Man, Capt America, and Thor....

Best scene, (among MANY great ones!): Loki vs. The Hulk
"Puny god."

Anyone gooned out by the possibility of catching bedbugs at a movie theater?

Bump.
I just saw, on DVD, "The Avengers" last night while over at my friend Lamar's house for Thanksgiving and I have to say I really enjoyed this movie. It had an incredible blend of action and humor. There were a couple out scenes that were absolutely hilarious, like refering to Hawk as Legolas *.
* Legolas is a Lord of the Rings reference by the way.
Edit: And the part where Hulk grabs ahold of Loki and slams him into the ground about four times...
...then you see a camera shot of Loki as he's laying there with a "OMG did that just happen" look on his face...it was priceless!

Haven't seen the movie. I'll always think of The Avengers being none other than Emma Peel in her little Lotus Elan and her crime fighting partner. Made me go out and buy a Lotus Elan. Great TV series and car even better.
